Did you know what contribution emigrants from Russia made to the development of Belgrade and Serbia? 🙌 📈 In the 1920s, many multiskilled specialists came to Yugoslavia. They were doctors, engineers, agronomists and military men. They established primary and preparatory schools, as well as cadet corps. 🏛Russian immigrants became members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, worked in the Belgrade City Council, designed and built private houses, civic and government buildings. Today, there are 1,800 sites in Serbia related to that wave of migration. 🎤 As part of the Balkan Dialogue 2024, Irina Antanasijević, the event's expert and specialist in the topic told us why it is important to study and preserve Belgrade's Russian heritage. Day 1 of the Balkan Dialogue 2024🌐 🖊The opening ceremony of the event was followed by a working section titled The Emigration Factor in the International Relations of the Balkans. Its speakers included: ⚪Stefan Gajić, Researcher at the Institute of European Studies in Belgrade, Professor at the Department of Comparative Politics of the School of Governance and Politics, MGIMO University; ⚪Kaori Kimura, PhD, Associate Researcher, Department of History of Eastern Europe after the World War Two, Institute of Slavic Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences; ⚪Prof. Irina Antanasijević, PhD in Philology, the Faculty of Philology of Universities of Belgrade and Pristina, Honorary Doctor of University of Tyumen. 📊The experts have observed that the Serbian people had experienced six waves of emigration related to economic, political and military factors, and the assimilation of skilled labour force from this country had a positive impact on the economies of states of Europe and North America. 📸The conference attendees then went on a tour of the “Russian Belgrade.” They visited sites associated with the heritage of Russian emigrants. The 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin!⭐ 🖋On 6 June 1799, one of the greatest Russian poets and writers was born, “our everything,” whose name is known far beyond the borders of our motherland. 🎓An educational project EAEU Media has been launched! On 5 June, the first online lecture titled EAEU in the world: role, partners and prospects was held as part of the international media school. 🔗The School is organised by the Gorchakov Fund in partnership with the information and analytical media outlets Eurasia.Expert, RuBaltic.ru and iac.ru. 🌐Kubatbek Rakhimov, Executive Director of the Applikata Centre for Strategic Solutions non-governmental foundation, an expert of the Valdai Club, told the attendees about the development of Eurasian economic integration, political processes in the post-Soviet space, the problems and prospects of the free-trade zone with China, and the fundamental differences between the EAEU and Eurasian Economic Community (EEC), The EEC is a bygone part of history, an attempt to integrate six countries, which did not have international legal personality and has faded into oblivion. When the EAEU was created, there were debates, because we had the European Union as a reference, a fairly efficient integration with a fundamentally important political element. The Balkan Dialogue 2024 starts in Serbia!🇷🇸 📌On 5 June, the Russian House in Belgrade hosted the launch of the Fund's annual conference devoted to the cooperation between Russia and the Balkan region states. 💬Leonid Drachevsky, Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, was the first to welcome the programme experts and participants, Our agenda is busy today, with topics ranging from Russians in Belgrade and Serbia as a whole to the Balkans' engagement with BRICS. These discussions bring together people who are prepared to listen to other people's views and express their own without crossing the lines that official diplomacy has long since crossed. 💬The next speaker was Evgeny Baranov, Head of the Russian House in Belgrade, In relations between Russia and the Balkan countries, there are a great number of unresolved problems, on which current and future generations will have to work. 22nd Diplomatic Seminar of Young Experts comes to an end💫 🖌On 30 May, the Gorchakov Fund hosted the final working day of the conference aimed at assessing the potential of advanced digital technologies for their application in international relations studies. 🤝The session titled the Role of International Cooperation in Global AI Development was addressed by lead AI specialists from India, Russia, South Africa, and Tunisia. 📈The programme continued with a session on applications of artificial intelligence. The participants asked questions about the application of this technology to collect and analyse data in their research papers to Artemy Sychev, Head of the development team at the Applied AI Center, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. 🖥The delegates then presented team project works to the expert jury.
