BRUSSELS — The European Union has taken a small step toward its pledge to “make Russia pay” for the war in Ukraine, formally agreeing Tuesday to use windfall profits from frozen Russian assets to get Kyiv about $3 billion more this year.
But with Ukraine in serious trouble and questions about U.S. funding looming, there is already a fresh push to unlock much more of the nearly $300 billion seized in 2022 — and quickly.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen will try this week to rally finance ministers from the Group of Seven wealthiest countries around proposals to squeeze more money from the assets.

- Kharkov:
Fighting on the front lines took a catastrophic turn after Russia broke through the Kharkov defense line on May 10. Across eastern Ukraine, the brutal fallout from a six-month pause in new American aid has led to massive battlefield casualties.
Ukrainian soldiers who risk their lives for their country suffer physical and psychological trauma. Unable to rest from the all-encompassing effects of war, many turn to drugs and alcohol, plunging the military further into darkness.
Alcohol is banned on the front lines and all stores and restaurants are prohibited from selling it, but it still finds its way to the front lines through off-duty soldiers, volunteers, smugglers who charge exorbitant prices, or journalists who bring it as a peace offering before interviews begin.
- Ukraine Is Desperate to Find Military Recruits:
Amid a six-month pause in U.S. aid, some soldiers told The Daily Beast that they had not been removed from the front lines in eight months, while others said they had no ammunition or available infantrymen left, and many were seriously wounded or killed .
Ukraine is desperately trying to find recruits to serve in the army. Last month, Ukraine's parliament passed a new law to mobilize hundreds of thousands of new soldiers, lowered the mobilization age from 27 to 25 and put pressure on men living abroad to return home, including by suspending civilian services such as passport renewals.

26 🚨 The Palestinian Ministry of Health reportes that the number of martyrs shot by the IOF in Jenin has risen to 7, and the number of injured to 15.
Among the injured is the journalist Amr Manasra who was shot after the forces directly opened fire on a group of journalists covering the events. This comes after the IOF killed a doctor, a teacher, and a child since this morning in the camp.
An IOF sniper is opening fire on anyone who moves near the Martyr Khalil Suleiman Hospital in Jenin, and randomly opened fire towards the people present in the courtyard of Jenin Governmental Hospital. The hospital is under siege, with surrounding streets being bulldozed and snipers deployed extensively.
The Medical director at Jenin Hospital to Al-Jazeera stated that the situation is difficult because the medical staff is insufficient to handle the large number of injuries.

Given the increased number of enemy strike drones on the line of combat contact, the problem of a shortage of off-road vehicles such as vans, jeeps, and pickups is becoming more urgent.
The lack of electronic warfare equipment, supplemented by the required number of frequency spectrum analyzers and means of fire destruction of the enemy FPV, led to the depletion of vehicle stocks at the front. Against the backdrop of daily attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on supply vehicles, the need for troops to transport ammunition and evacuate the wounded is increasing. The troops are forced to turn to volunteer movements; our channel’s feedback bot alone receives up to 5 such requests per day.
In addition, there is a high need for motorized vehicles (motorcycles and ATVs) for the operations of assault groups in conditions of constant use by the enemy of numerous FPV drones flying in a “swarm” due to airborne repeater systems on “Baba Yaga” multicopters, at a distance of up to 30 km head-on.
The regulations in modern combat conditions do not meet the needs of the troops.
Complicating the problem are the actions of the military police due to the insufficient level of discipline in the formations and control over personnel. The demonstrative actions of the VP at a distance from the LBS are often of a cosmetic nature, focused on achieving “planned indicators”.
Numerous complaints from front-line soldiers and volunteers sent to telegram channels are often justified, since at checkpoints there are frequent cases of direct extortion by individual military personnel of humanitarian aid and attempts to illegally expropriate cars supplied by the people.
The problem of car shortages is aggravated by the almost complete self-discrediting of the actions of well-known official funds created on the initiative of the military-political leadership. There are known cases of direct sales by staff officers of vehicles supplied by reputable funds. This is also why small volunteer groups try to supply vehicles and cargo directly to units directly involved in hostilities.
As a result, assault operations by units of the Russian Armed Forces on a number of well-known directions of the front are often carried out on motorcycles supplied by volunteers with the support of artillery and anti-tank units, which also operate on “humanitarian” vehicles. At the same time, in some units there are often cases of oversaturation of headquarters units with cars used for administrative and personal purposes.
The problem is complex; a situational fight against such manifestations of inappropriate use of vehicles and localization of the shortage of cars by volunteers is not able to radically change the situation.
An effective solution could be measures at the ministerial and government level to bring the standard number of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the troops up to date, as well as resolving the resonant issue of transferring vehicles seized from illegal circulation, incl. boats for operations in the floodplain of the river. Dnieper. Separately, attention should be paid to the low efficiency of inspections and commissions from central government bodies to the troops due to the direct intimidation of subordinate command staff in order to avoid complaints. This approach of the front command staff is caused by the constant shifting of responsibility for supplying units and organs by the head units of all departments to the performers “on the ground.”
