Battle of Badr
17th RamadÄn 2AH
The Quraysh lost three of there men at the beginning of the battle.
The Muslims charged at the Quraysh, without flinching proclaimig the Oneness of AllÄh, shouting out âAhad, Ahad! [AllÄh is One, AllÄh is One!]â
The Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù gave glad tidings to Abu Bakr رÙضÙÙ٠اÙÙÙ٠عÙÙÙÙÙ saying âRejoice AllÄh's victory has come, this is Jibreel عÙÙÙÙÙÙ٠اÙسÙÙÙاÙÙ
charging ahead with his horse's bridle in his hand. AllÄh's help came in the form of one thousand Angels.
˹Remember˺ when you cried out to your Lord for help, He answered, âI will reinforce you with a thousand angelsâfollowed by many others.â
Surah al-AnfÄl, al-Äyah 9
˹Remember, Oâ Prophet,˺ when your Lord revealed to the angels, âI am with you. So make the believers stand firm. I will cast horror into the hearts of the disbelievers. So strike their necks and strike their fingertips.â
Surah al-AnfÄl, al-Äyah 12
The Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù marched towards the fray and the ayah below was revealed.
˹Soon˺ their united front will be defeated and ˹forced to˺ flee.
Surah al-Qamar, al-Äyah 45
The Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù took a handful of sand and threw it towards the Quraysh saying: âLet their faces be disfigured, the dust flew into their eyes, and nose. The ayah [below] was revealed:
...Nor was it you ˹O Prophet˺ who threw ˹a handful of sand at the disbelievers˺, but it was AllÄh Who did so...
Surah al-AnfÄl, al-Äyah 17
The Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù commanded his Companions to âRise and attack!â The Companions were inspired, even though they were outnumbered three to one, they witnessed the Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù was participating alongside them, ready to fight. The Muslims swarmed over the Quraysh, Quraysh were falling one by one and they soon retreated in disarray. The Muslims followed in pursuit, slaying some and capturing others.
Satan, was present on the day, in the guise of SurÄqa bin Malik bin Juâshum, upon seeing the army of the Angels, he fled and plunged into the Red Sea.
Abu Jahl, was well guarded by his men, who were all carrying swords and spears.
A young boy asked Abdur-RahmÄn bin Awf, رÙضÙÙ٠اÙÙÙ٠عÙÙÙÙÙ âshow me Abu Jahlâ. Abdur-RahmÄn bin Awf asks âwhat is your concern with himâ, the young boy replied: âI heard he vilifies the Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù and by the One in whose Hand is my life, either I will kill Abu Jahl or he will kill me!â
Abdur-RahmÄn bin Awf showed the young boy [and another boy who enquired too] Abu Jahl on the battlefield, lo and behold the two boys charged and attacked Abu Jahl, killing him with their swords.
The two young boys were MuâÄdh ibn Afra [who was martyred in Badr, after killing Abu Jahl] and MuâÄdh ibn Amr [who died during the Caliphate of UthmÄn رÙضÙÙ٠اÙÙÙ٠عÙÙÙÙÙ].
âAbd-AllÄh ibn MasâÅ«d رÙضÙÙ٠اÙÙÙ٠عÙÙÙÙÙ found Abu Jahl dying and put his foot on his neck saying: âHas AllÄh not disgraced you Abu Jahl, Oâ enemy of AllÄh?!â
Abu Jahl was ridiculing âAbd-AllÄh ibn MasâÅ«d during his last breaths, saying he wished he was killed by someone other than a farmer! Abu Jahl asked âAbd-AllÄh ibn MasâÅ«d: âwho has been granted victory?â âAbd-AllÄh ibn MasâÅ«d said âAllÄh and His Messenger!â
In this battle Abu Jahl died and The Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
Ù said: âHe was the Firâawn of this Ummah.â
14 Muslims were blessed and granted Martydom - Eight AnsÄr and Six MuhÄjireen
This day was known as Yawm ul-FurqÄn [The Day of Distinction]. This day the battle lines were drawn not in accordance to tribes but according to the belief of AllÄh.
˹Remember˺ when you cried out to your Lord for help, He answered, âI will reinforce you with a thousand angelsâfollowied by many others.â
Side Note: Ruqayyah bint Muhammad, the daughter of the Messenger of AllÄh صÙÙÙÙ٠اÙÙÙÙ°Ù٠عÙÙÙÙÙÙÙ ÙÙسÙÙÙÙÙ
, the wife of UthmÄn died in Madeenah due to sickness.

+2The Battle of Badr took place on the 17th of Ramadan, two years after Prophet Muhammad ï·º migrated to Madinah. 14 companions were martyred in the battle.
The battle of Badr was the most important and the first major battle the Muslims fought. The Muslim army, which numbered around 313, faced an army of 1000 of the Quraysh, through the help of Allah the Muslims emerged victorious.
The Battle of Badr was a turning point in the early history of Islam, as it demonstrated the strength and determination of the Muslim community and helped to establish the dominance of the Muslim forces. In the Quran, the battle is referred to as Yawm al- Furqan (The Day of the Criterion)
The Prophet (ï·º) was engaged in dua and Allah responded to his prayers by sending an army of one thousand Angels. Badr lies 130 km from Madinah.
"When you asked for help from your Lord, He answered you. Indeed I will aid with a thousand of the angles in rows behind rows." (Quran 8:9)
This occurs days after a statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission concerning Israeli arrests of Palestinians holding Gaza IDs at military checkpoints in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
