There's a tense T-square in the sky today with moon, Venus and Mars. This formation warrants a mild, psychic weather warning, particularly in the areas of relationships and emotions. Mars here acts as a inflammatory influence and tempers may be shorter with irritation likely.
Mercury stations direct tonight! The stationary period lasts for two days and this is when we might noticed a worsening of retrograde type issues. No such thing as mercury shadow period so by the 26th we are in the clear.
There's a minor grand trine happening right now with Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune which new age astrologers have been hyping up for ages now. Is there any more proof than this that those planets are malefic? Have they taken a look outside?
I call them the kali yuga planets because they are not visible without technology (except Uranus sometimes which appears as a dot). New age astrologers have given them qualities which were always traditionally ruled by one of the 7 classical planets. When you strip that away (as it isn't true) you are left with all of the rot of the modern age including much subversion and the upside down nonsense that we are all having to deal with.
Assigning these planets as rulers of some of the signs (thanks Theosophists) was a deliberate act of black magic (as above, so below). Luckily, traditional Western and Vedic astrologers kept the original and only rulers of the signs.
I predicted power outages in my weekend forecast above. There were storms in Michigan and over 400,000 without power.
July 4th - Mars in Gemini conjunct Uranus and moon in Aquarius - Strong possibility of power outages or internet/website issues. The conjunction also increases the possibility of accidents, or even random violence.
If anyone is feeling very emotionally off at the moment, we have strong solar flares on top of Mercury retrograde and there was a powerful, category X flare yesterday. Solar flares can increase anxiety, violence and emotional outbursts. As well as affecting emotions, there's a strong correlation between solar flares and heart issues.
Something that I forgot to say in my jupiter in Leo Video is that heart attacks will greatly increase this summer into next year with the Jupiter in Leo transit. Leo rules the heart in medical astrology and Jupiter is highly stressed from Pluto in aquarius and chiron in taurus. Take your hawthorn!
The Sun entered the cardinal sign of Cancer yesterday at the time of the summer solstice. Cancer is connected with the home, family and the past. It is the ideal time to focus on the maternal side of our ancestry and the defense of our territories and the family unit.
“The ancient creators of astrology said that the world was created when the Sun was in the 15th degree of Cancer, and the Moon was in the 15th degree of Leo... For Cancer is the sign of the summer solstice, the point of highest light and growth from which all things flow."
— Julius Firmicus Maternus
Tropical, western astrology is solar based and its interpretations are derived from the equinoxes and solstices. It is not star based or out of alignment as it is anchored to the seasons which Ptolemy makes clear in the quote below. Solar astrology is not affected by precession. Ancient astrologers used both tropical and sidereal zodiacs together.
"It is reasonable to reckon the beginnings of the signs also from the equinoxes and solstices, partly because the writers make this quite clear, and particularly because from our previous demonstrations we see that their natures, powers, and familiarities have their cause from the solstitial and equinoctial starting-places, and from no other source." Claudius Ptolemy.
Someone asked me yesterday about the increasing violence happening on the streets, wars, and also the heightened aggression levels from people online and offline. They were wondering about the astrological reflection of it all.
This is all classic Saturn in Aries stuff as it is a highly volatile and challenging transit. Saturn is in its fall in Aries as it is the sign that is opposite Libra where it receives its exaltation. There is no restraint as Saturn is lacking the dignity to express its good qualities such as patience and wisdom.
Aries is the sign of the warrior or aggressor. This placement of Saturn in Aries represents a cycle of extreme suppression followed by violent eruptions. Historically, Saturn in Aries has been connected with periods where the State acts in a heavy handed way and uses aggressive weapons against the people. Saturn in Aries brings about simmering tensions that are suppressed for periods and then explode in violence.
So while we might have "good" astrology for periods, Saturn in Aries will be permanently present until 2028 and unfortunately, these events are not going to stop.
We have a Venus Jupiter conjunction in Cancer happening tomorrow, June 9th at 21:59 CET. These planets are the two benefics and their union in the sky creates a supportive, pleasant, and lucky atmosphere which will be expressed within the cancer house of your birth chart. The conjunction acts as a trigger in a particular life area (the house) with expansion and blessings from Jupiter plus harmony, pleasure and beauty from Venus.
"If Jupiter is with Venus, look at the house in which they are, for that house will be fulfilled with goodness and joy... Even if the rulers of the chart are in bad condition, if Jupiter and Venus look upon each other or are together in one place, they will take away the malice of the heavy planets and turn the matter to a good end." – Dorotheous of Sidon
Is this conjunction spectacularly life changing as some new age astrologers are claiming? Not unless it is accompanied by other, life changing transits to your own birth chart.
We can, however, make the most out of the brief conjunction through our own efforts and actions and any project started tomorrow at the time of the conjunction will forever hold the blessings of the benefic planets. A baby born tomorrow will be supported by Venus and Jupiter for life.
"If Jupiter is in conjunction with Venus, this will make men charming, pleasant, friendly, joyful, and popular with all. They will be praised by the crowd, loved by everyone, and will be assigned to public trusts or administrative duties, or they will be put in charge of the treasuries of great states. They will be wealthy and always have an abundance of everything. They will achieve great things by their own charm and wisdom, without any effort, and they will be fortunate in every aspect of their lives." - Julius Firmicus Maternus
The moon entered cancer this morning and Venus also entered the same sign. The moon is in domicile in cancer where she can express her true nature. During this transit, we focus on emotional security, home, Family and the past. We tend to comfort eat and can feel moody with fluctuating emotions.
"The Moon in Cancer makes men popular, changeable, bright... sharing in public affairs, possessing property, but experiencing reversals and instability." - Vettius Valens
"The Moon in Cancer makes the mind sharp, subtle, cautious, resourceful, protective, and analytical, yet prone to sudden shifts of perspective, deeply tied to the natural world, and highly intuitive." - Ptolemy
"If you wish to build a building, plant a tree, or sow seeds, look for the Moon when she is in Cancer, for this is her own house and she rejoices there. What is begun under her presence here will take root deeply, grow with abundance, and endure for a long time." - Dorotheus of Sidon.
The moon in Cancer is sextile (positive aspect) to the Sun in Taurus which creates stability within our emotions and relations with others. When the lights (luminaries) are getting along, it generally makes for a good day.
There are a couple of squares from the moon to saturn and neptune and we must be careful not to romanticize the past to the extent that it causes us to feel down or uncomfortable with the present.
Venus in Cancer combines the pleasurable and peace seeking qualities of Venus with the cardinal, maternal and nurturing traits of Cancer. On a basic level, we can experience pleasure through family connections, anything related to the past such as genealogy and ancestors, and caring for others.
"He who has Venus in Cancer will be fond of his home, affectionate, and deeply devoted to the care of his family. If the chart is nocturnal and Venus is unafflicted, it indicates a mother of noble character and grants the native inherited wealth or benefits from women." - Julius Maternus
Venus will square saturn on May 29th "But if Mars or Saturn cast their rays harshly upon Venus in this sign, the native's passions will fluctuate wildly, leading to hidden anxieties, domestic disputes, and disruptions in their early marriages."
Pluto is stationing retrograde today and Plutonian themes such as power struggles, the underworld and control may be more noticeable over the next few days. It will retrograde until october 15th and move backwards from 5 to 3 degrees of Aquarius. Retrogrades are an opportunity to review the matters of the house where the retrograde is happening. Check the aquarius house in your birth chart.
The moon is in Capricorn all day tomorrow and there is an exact trine (positive aspect) between the Sun in Taurus and Moon in the morning. A loose T-square forms in the afternoon between moon, Jupiter and Mars. This is a highly stressful aspect and can cause explosions of temper and impatience.Be cautious, especially as Pluto is stationing.
"Taurus is the house of Venus, feminine, nomadic, terrestrial, semi-vocal, rustic, artistic... The Sun in this sign produces those who are noble, of high rank, fond of luxury, and possessing many possessions, but also those who are laborious and concerned with agricultural matters." Vettius Valens
"The Bull will yield his neck to the yoke and his strength to the earth, and he will find his delight in the deep-ploughed soil. He will be the servant of the fields... he will possess a rich store of wealth and a mind that is slow to change, but powerful in its endurance." Manilius
The moon enters Capricorn tomorrow at 21:05 CET
"The Moon in Capricorn makes men painstaking, involved in much business, and full of care; it produces those who are successful after much toil, but prone to anxiety and given to gravity of character." Vettius Valens
"When the Moon is in Capricorn, it is a good time for the laying of foundations and for the works of the earth, for it is a sign of stability; yet it makes the soul stern and slow to joy." - Dorotheus of Sidon
"If the Moon be in Capricorn, she renders the mind more cautious and cold... inclined toward the management of earthly affairs and the acquisition of property, often through great endurance." Ptolemy
