We got to interview @b1n1yamBuilds for Devtopia.
We talked about his experience freelancing, doing full time employment, and eventually running in to the problems that led him to get into AI research and start Addis AI. We also got a demo of the new voice model they have been working on.
It is a great episode, check it out. Thanks to Biniyam for coming on the show.

I don't think we should be paying 9$/m for load testing using machines we own.
so i built loadcell (FOSS), run http requests, save them as a load testing profile, draw ramp up curves and run them concurrently with go.

Yomu
an all-in-one reading companion designed for book lovers and audiobook enthusiasts. Whether you're diving into an EPUB, studying a PDF, or listening on the go, Yomu tracks your progress and gamifies your reading journey to help you reach your goals.
so one day i decided to get back to reading books(as any normal person does), and started reading, then since its been awhile i read heavy stuff(normal book actually, just heavy for me 👀), the process got boring, so i tried audiobooks, and now my ADHD kicks in and started taking me places while listening, when i got back am up to 2,3 chapter and the main character had died or sth, so i started reading while listening to the audiobook at the same time, that really improved my experience.
but now i face another problem, 1 am using two different apps, 2 i was using samsung music for my audiobooks so everytime i open another audio to listen to music i've lost the track of my timestamp, now everytime i get back to reading i have to find the exact place where i left of and continue from there, trust me do this once or twice a day, you're better of not reading at all.
so why not build an app for it that got both feature i need reading while listening and rememebers where i left off and all. thats why Yomu is created
'Yomu' means 'to read' in japanase and 'anytime' in afan oromo, so two languages, one mission: "To read, anytime".
since i used to use moonreader(the best reader ever), i tried to apply their best features here, including the little ones like, searching from web for hte book's cover
so i present to you: YOMU

Introducing ICare
I built ICare because I spend most of my day staring at a screen and kept forgetting to take breaks until my eyes started hurting.
ICare reminds you to follow the 20-20-20 rule by nudging you every 20 minutes to look away from your screen for 20 seconds. If you're really stubborn, Smart Eye Mode can block your screen for 20 seconds and force the break
To make things more fun, I added:
- Analytics to track your habits
- Streaks and badges to keep you motivated
- Different popup personalities
- A Savage Mode that might roast you for ignoring your eye health
I wanted ICare to be simple, useful, and a little entertaining.
I've been using it myself, and it's already helping me build healthier screen habits. I hope it helps you too.
GitHub repo: https://github.com/Lozaashenafi/Icare
If you try it out, I'd love to hear your feedback.
