19 May Series Rollover
Nifty rollover for the month of May came in at 72% which was greater than the previous three month average while the Banknifty rollover was 74% which was less than the three month average. 49% of stock futures saw positive closing in May expiry compared to 66% last month.
Highest rolls were seen in SAIL, Ambujacem, Nationalum, Gail and Reliance. Highest rollover was seen in Auto, Consumer durable and Pharma with positive bias hinting at more upsides in June. Financial services and IT saw Short buildup hinting at further decline in coming month.
Nifty ended on a negative note in May series. Automobile and Banking Stocks contributed highest to Nifty's resistance to bigger dip followed by Metals, Telecom and energy. The sectors which dragged the Nifty are IT, Financial Services, oil and gas and FMCG. Investment comes only in those states which have :
- Less red-tapism and fast govt clearance process
- Availability of land, cheap electricity and water and skilled labour
- tax incentives from Govt
- Good law and Order
- Competition friendly environment
- Road network for logistics
Probable Reason for fall :
1. Freebies - freebies increase your revenue expenditure so state can't give tax incentives to industries
2. Costly industrial electricity - when you are giving subsidy on consumer electricity then u have to increase industrial electricity tariff to compensate
3. Corruption and Red tapism : When ur USP is only freebies to win elections then u shift ur focus from growth outlook
4. No competitive environment: In most of SME/MSME owned by politicians, they don't allow to flourish competition
