I wonder why so many opposition parties are opposing the Anti-Paper Leak Bill.
So,
In 1992, the Kalyan Singh government introduced the Anti-Copying Act, making cheating in examinations a cognizable and non-bailable offence.
In 1993, after coming to power, the Mulayam Singh government repealed the Act.
Later, in 2004, the self-centre scheme was introduced, which critics argued made mass copying easier in some areas.
🤔 Looking at this history, it's not surprising that questions are being raised over the opposition to stricter anti-cheating laws.

🔹 Jail term increased from 3–5 years to 5–10 years for those convicted of exam fraud.
💰 Maximum fine raised from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh.
🏢 For private agencies/service providers involved in exam conduct, question paper printing, logistics, or technology support:
• Maximum penalty increased from ₹1 crore to ₹5 crore.
• Debarment period doubled from 4 years to 8 years.
