You want your boss to think you are organizing a cult? But even after all your attempts, they still consider you a responsible and highly-qualified teacher? Well, sucks to be you... But don't you worry, I've got a solution! Play this game with your students... ... and make everyone question your sanity 😅 I actually played it with my 8th graders today. Well, it was really fun! And they definitely enjoyed it! Apparently, the combination of movement and repetition helps the participants learn the target language faster. The main idea is that students need to strike different poses while repating some words so that they remember the vocab better. First, one student says the phrases and does the poses. Others copy the poses. Then, they repeat the target language with the poses. I am not very sure this is the actual way it is supposed to be played though as my students adapted the game very fast. Afterwards I heard them repeating the phrases outside of class. However, I am not completely sold on the value of playing it in regards to memorizing vocab. It remains to be seen. What's more, I am not sure about some of the collocations offered in the game. Conclusion: can be played online (just PM your students the card) and offline, good for functional language. But ask your students first as it is not for self-conscious people. Forewarning: a passing witness might think you are summoning a devil or just simply have gone off the rails. Or, as mentioned above, organizing a cult. NB! Pre-teach the vocab! Or at least drill the pronunciation! #ideas #games

Однако, мне тут недавно напомнили, что понятие достижение вообще-то, у всех разное. Так что гордо заявляю, что я вчера после своего выступления на Trendy St. Pete свалила в комнату Интроверта на 2 часа, и даже себя за это не ругала! Вот это реально достижение! Hello, amazing new people! I am Yulia, and this is my blog about random stuff, no false advertising here. I talk about #methodology in general, different tricks, teaching teens, #CPD, conferences (#conference) and whatnot (#random_musings) . I love psychology and fight burnout with all my considerable might (#burnout_resistance). Here you also might stumble upon some ready-made materials (#materials), but it’s not the purpose of my blog. The first idea for my blog was just for word vomit (#random_musings and #rants) actually. Why should you listen to me, you might ask? Well, first of all, I am very proud to call myself relatively clever. My certifications might help me prove that claim as us, teachers, often consider them our greatest accomplishments. I am with you here, guys. So here is my list: TKT (3 modules), CAE (pass A), CELTA (pass A), IH YLT (International House – Young Learners and Teenagers Teaching Certificate), CPE (Pass A) and lots of other Russian certificates (here is a post about it https://t.me/random_musing_s/145) However, I was recently reminded that accomplishments are understood differently by different people and should be celebrated, so I proudly admit that yesterday at Trendy I presented my talk about Little Teaching Crimes and then disappeared for 2 hours to a room for introverts. 🔥🔥🔥 Выходные обещают быть жаркими 🔥🔥🔥 🌙 Пятница – суббота – поезд в Питер ⭐️ Суббота (почти весь день) – Розетка Розетка (https://rozetka.team/spb2024) – это летнее событие для всех фанатов образования. Судя по чату в телеге, я точно встречу просто тьму очень интересных людей (там есть, наверное, все виды работников образования, от тренеров по софт-скиллам до владельцев школ). Идея – огонь, но пока непонятно, что там, собственно,  надо будет делать. В программе написано, но мне мало что понятно. Зато очень интересно. В первый раз буду на подобном мероприятии, так что поглядим.  🌟 Вечер субботы – Педсовет или педагогический стендап.  Рада, что меня согласны послушать. Не стоит ожидать записи, так как ребята-организаторы – просто отличные профи. Этот стендап – открытая площадка для самовыражения, без цензуры. Надеюсь, мои шутки коллегам зайдут.  Сначала думала: да что же я расскажу? А теперь столько идей набросала, как будто на индивидуальный концерт собираюсь 😅😏🤩

The upcoming weekend is going to be both horribly busy and terribly fun (at least I hope so).  💥 Friday – Saturday – a train to Saint Pete 💫 Saturday (almost all day) – Rozetka. Розетка https://rozetka.team/spb2024 is a summer event for people who love education. Judging from the TG chat, I am bound to meet a LOT of amazing people ‘cause their professions range from soft-skill coaches to owners of various educational establishments. I am really excited, but kind of apprehensive. I have not the foggiest as to what we are gonna do there, actually. According to the programme, there is a lot to do, but it looks like pretty unknown words to me as I’ve never been to such an event.  🌟 Saturday evening – Rozetka after-party/ Pedagogical Stand-Up I am thrilled to have been accepted as one of the people to perform, yay! Don’t expect any footage though as the people organizing it are trying to make the event a safe space for teachers. Recording in any way will be prohibited so that the “comics” will not have to censor themselves.  🤬🤬🤬 At first, I was thinking I wouldn’t have much to say, but 15 minutes in I was like – Well, apparently I am going to have my very own concert 🤩😏 #coference #funsies #education #weekend
