A pair of earthquakes, the first measuring a magnitude of 7.2 and the second measuring 7.5, were reported Wednesday evening in northwest Venezuela, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. There were reports of heavy damage in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas.
The first earthquake was centered 17.6 miles northwest of the Venezuelan town of Montalbán, the USGS said, and struck at a depth of 8.2 miles. It was preliminarily reported as a 7.1 magnitude quake before being upgraded to a 7.2.
Less than one minute later, a second earthquake measuring at a magnitude of 7.5 struck just north of the first. It was centered about 21 miles northwest of Montalbán.
"This earthquake was the second event in a doublet, this magnitude 7.5 mainshock was preceded just 39 seconds before by a 7.2 foreshock," the USGS said.

The United States Energy Information Agency (EIA) confirmed US Cushing, Oklahoma commercial crude oil inventories have crashed to 19 million barrels, the lowest level since 2014 and just 2 days from rock bottom.
When Cushing reaches rock bottom, pipelines lose pressure and the strategic oil hub begins physical breakdown. Two days.
Meanwhile, in Texas and Louisiana, the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) has fallen another 9.1 million barrels to 331.2 million, the lowest since 1983.
Out of those 331.2 Million barrels, between 240 and 243 Million CANNOT BE USED because of dirt, rock, sludge, Paraffin Wax, and Brine Solution injected into the caverns to cause lighter weight oil to float.
So while the EIA reports the SPR as having 331.2 million barrels, only NINETY-ONE (91) Million are usable.
Do the math.
