Question#339 ❓💭❓ بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم *LEARNING TAFSEER IS OBLIGATORY* Sh. Muhammad al-Ma'yoof حفظه الله mentioned in his tafseer class on Saturday: "Learning tafseer is an obligation. Allah censured those who do not reflect on the Quran in four Verses, showing us that it is obligatory to ponder over it, and the most severe of these Verses is: { أَفَلَا یَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ أَمۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقۡفَالُهَاۤ } 'Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’ān, or are their hearts locked up (from understanding it)?' [1] The Quran was revealed in order for us to act in accordance to it. This is not possible without reflecting over it: { كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَیۡكَ مُبَـٰرَكࣱ لِّیَدَّبَّرُوۤا۟ ءَایَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِیَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ } '[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.' [2] And it is not possible to reflect on it without knowing the [correct] Tafseer (interpretation) of it. Therefore, it is obligatory to learn tafseer in order to reflect on it, and it is obligatory to reflect on it in order to act in accordance to its teachings." 📍 Jāmi' al-Jawharah al-Bābateen, Riyadh, KSA References: [1]: [Surah Muḥammad (47): 24] [2]: [Surah Ṣād (38): 29] Translated and summarized by Zain Irfan Abu Hibbān https://t.me/at_Tamassuk T.N.: Some beneficial tafseers which have been translated into English include: a summary of Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Tafseer as-Sa'di, and al-Mukhtasar fit-Tafseer. Question #338 ❓💭❓ Salam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. I did whudu and later realized that I had a small Pimple patch on my cheekbone area, on my face. Meaning the water 💦 did not touch that area, it’s a super small spot but I’m wondering if my prayers would still be valid as I did not know? If this thing that you put on the face, is the size of a bean, for example, a small dirham (coin), a date seed or a fingernail then it prevents water from the skin. Therefore, if you performed ablution while it was there, then the purity is incomplete and incorrect. You need to remove it first, then make wudhu again, or perform ghusl again and repeat the prayer that you prayed, meaning you prayed with the old ablution. Yes, after removing it and performing ablution again. If it is something light, it means something that flies and is light. It doesn’t affect nor is of large size, there is nothing on you. Question #336 ❓💭❓ السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته My brother's name is a Persian name of a King that translates to "King of the World". Is it permissible to call him that? He is 35 years old so I don't think we can change it. But can we call him that? This name, which contains tazkiyyah, as you said, translates to “king of the world”. It is better to change it. There is nothing wrong even if he is twenty-five years old, because the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, changed some names, and the people that had these names were perhaps more than twenty-five years old. “The lesson is not in age, but rather in following the Sunnah. You may change this name to Muhammad, to Ahmed, to Abdul Rahman, or to Abdullah. These are good names. Translated by Abu ‘Umar Ibn Rashīd 🖌️🔖📚

Question #335 ❓💭❓ Is it a bidah for one to pray tahajjud with a couple of brothers who are memorising surah baqarah with each person leading a portion so that they can strengthen their hifdh? Answer As for praying Tahajjud in congregation, this was not done regularly by the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم, nor by the Companions. If he does it once in a while (it’s fine), however if he’s consistent in it, then this is not from the sunnah. Rather, the matter may turn into a bid’ah (innovation). Because the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم , lead them In the night prayer (in the masjid) during Ramadan only. On the first, second, third day, and after that. he did not go out (to lead them) due to fear that it would be obligated up on them. The Salaf (pious predecessors) did not pray tahajjud in their homes as a jamā’ah. However if he does it once in a while or with his family in his home and he is not consistent with it (then it’s fine), but if he is consistent then the matter may go against the Sunnah.
