In my interview panel there were 2 senior professors of IISc and 2 Associate Professors all of them was very helpful and kind and it went for around 45mins. They asked me to introduce myself and my background. 1st question: It was on my work experience and on my hometown in Uttarakhand that is at 7000ft. They asked basic questions regarding thermal how pressure changes with height how boiling temperature changes. 2nd question : Will i be able to boil egg at 7000 ft and how it is different at mount Everest height. 3 question: They asked my favourite subjects I told them SOM, Fluid and thermal. They asked me to go on blackboard and after that my complete interview gone on Strength of materials They asked me to draw cantilever beam with point load, UVL, UDL etc and they asked each and everything like critical stresses, failure zones, principal stresses, reactions etc Question 4 : They gave Mild steel, Cast iron and Al asked their failure criteria under different loading and asked me to draw stress strain diagram and asked everything related to the basics. Question 5 : They gave real lofe examples of deflection in beams and asked me to calculate the deflection and slope and different points and they interconnected it with material science how can i chode a material to avoid different failure and how can i do manufacturing to increase strength of components. Question 6 : Enthalpy of vaporisation, stagnation enthalpy, entropy, etc My complete interview was based on basics of SOM and thermal. So i will suggest aspirants to prepare your favourite subjects in depth.
