BDL INTERVIEW INFORMATION

Good Evening Sir, sorry for such late reply. By your blessings, I am doing good. 🙏 Sir I am working as a Management Trainee in BDL. There are currently 3 units of BDL - Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bhanur (40km near Hyderabad). I am in Hyderabad unit. People can be posted in any of these three units based on the manpower requirements. I got posted to Hyderabad. Sir, Bdl mainly manufactures missiles designed by DRDO as well as on Transfer of Technology from foreign companies. It also has a R&D division , in Hyderabad unit, which focuses on developing missile designed by BDL itself. I am currently working in this R&D division. There is a lot to learn technically here as different defense projects keep coming. Here, mechanical engineers will work on CAD modelling, CFD simulations, Structural simulations, QC, materials management etc. I work on Cfd simulation currently. Being a defense Psu, there are however many restrictions. Phones not allowed, internet access very restricted. Also office timings are fixed ( 8am to 4.40am ) as biometric attendance is there.

BDL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE Good Afternoon Sir, Here is my overall experience for BDL MT (Mechanical) held on 15 June 2023, Hyderabad. 1. They asked for my brief introduction and to mention briefly about summer training / project / experience etc. 2. Asked to explain in brief about industrial training and my M.Tech Thesis work. 4. Asked lot of details about my job profile in the previous company (IT sector). Asked why I joined IT sector after Mechanical engg, and why going for core sector now. Asked details of any other exam I cleared. 5. Asked different types of manufacturing processes. 6. Asked about factors to keep in mind while designing any component, an give an example. I gave example of Flywheel design. Then they asked purpose of Flywheel. 7. What is the significance of studying Engineering Drawing and Graphics 8. They asked basic questions ob Subjects studied in MTech. 9. I had done some elective subjects from humanities stream in college. They asked about one of them in detail. The total interview lasted about 9-10 minutes. Some questions asked to other candidates were focused on production , as BDL is a production company for missiles and related equipment for indian armed forces. But basic mechanical questions were also asked from other subjects like quality, solid mechanics, theory of machines. As BDL mainly manufactures for defense forces, it will be good to know recent news of this field. Also visit BDL website to know their missile products, key people in company, recent news about BDL etc.

I am very good sir. Hope you are also doing very well.🙌🏼🙏 Currently I am posted in RCFL at Mumbai. RCFL last year got NAVRATANA status, and became 1st Fertilizer sector PSU to get this status. Last 3 year Profit and Turnover was at record high. This year it is performing at par due to changing market conditions. RCFL is also producing UREA GOLD (sulphur coated urea), first and only in India. Company is very good in terms of location (if posted in Trombay unit, middle of Mumbai city). Thal unit is 3 hours away from Mumbai. Working culture is somewhat same like other PSUs, same routine job. Work life balance depends on department posted, mechanical engineer are mostly in maintenance. So the work is hectic, but if a person is hardcore technical, he will like the work as RCF gives lot of flexibility to juniors in implementing new ideas. Exposure to top management is also high here. So promotions are also good. Township facility is cherry on top. It is one of the best in Mumbai. I will recommend RCFL to person who is highly technical and wants to work diligently in core field. But if you want to gain 2-3 years of experience and switch career to other field, you may find difficult to manage time. Hope this information might help. Thanks and regards 🙂🙏🏼

Me - Name, City, Family, Education, Industrial Training ( Interrupted at training part ). Panel 1 - So you have done your training from Shriram Pistons, it is an automobile company right? Tell me pistons are made of which material? Me - Sir, Aluminium Alloys. Panel 1 - Okay, but why we use aluminium, why not any other material? Me - Sir, because it has good heat conductivity. Panel 1 - And? Tell me one more reason! Me - Sir it has light weight, low density. Panel 1 - Have you studied about centrifugal pump? Tell me its principal and working? Me - Told. Panel 1 - How cavitation occurs in pump and how to decrease the chances of cavitation. Me - Told. Panel 1 - Which part has more diameter and why? Is it suction part or delievery part? Me - Told. Panel 2 - Do you know types of Steel? Me - Told. Panel 2 - What is stainless steel and its types? Me - Told. Panel 3 - Have you heard about chrome plating? Why it is done? Me - Told. Panel 3 - What is carbonitriding? Why it is done? Me - Told. Panel 1 - When you were in training, what was the instruments used for measurement of piston rings? Me - Sir, Vernier calliper and micrometer. Panel 1 - Tell me how you will determine it's least count and there values? Me - Told. Panel 4 (Lady) - What is VVIP (my residential apartment name) Me - Told. Panel 1 - Okay, Harsh so 26 January is coming! What is difference between 26 Jan and 15 Aug. Me - Told. Panel 1 - Who was the president between 1947 to 1950? Me - I was not sure. So I told that the First President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad but I am not sure about the time frame. Panel 1 - Okay. Panel 1 - If you selected would you go to other psu like coal india or Barc would you go? Me - Sir, If i am getting selected in RCFL it would be a great opportunity for me to start my professional career from such reputed organisation. I will not go anywhere else and there is reasons for it. Panel 1 - Tell me the reason. Me - Sir, here not only i will be utilising my technical expertise but also contributing towards the betterment of the lives of Indian farmers who are the backbone of our country. Secondly, the location at which the job is being offered is a dream place for everyone and here not only i will spend my entire life but can also contribute my role towards my family as well. Panel 5 - Hobbies? Me - Bodybuilding and cooking. Panel 5 - Gym karte ho kya? Me - Yes sir. Panel 5 - Tell me about your hometown Mirzapur. Me - Told about historical, geographical and economical aspects. ( although i was expecting cross question from web series mirzapur, but was not asked.) All panel member after nodding to each other. ( I know the ans but forgot then they give hint by asking classification of bearing,I told antif B & JB, tb yaad aya ki Journal bearing then they smiled. 6 MATERIAL of bearing? I told I m not sure but shyad phosphor bronze(but ans was babbit material ) then this time they were expression less and asked acha ye batao ki Jo bhi material hoga vo ductile hona chaheye tha brittle then I said ductile. 7 what type of role profile u are expecting here? I said maintenance, production,marketing 8 white collar job q leav krrhe yaha to kapde tk kaale ho jayege (qki mai Infosys me tha)? I replied What I feel was they were just checking how ans was prepared, confidence and comfort level in front of them, Interview 90% Hindi me hora tha no language boundation( Hindi English Marathi) Result - selected

my rcfl interview experience date 22 jan 2021 they call one by one name of each candidate at 7 am and entry done just after entry instructions for dv started. alongwith dv breakfast given. after that dv done. then one by one they call for interview. after entry in interview room there was a panel of 6 person and a table, chair and mike in center . first question tell me about urself. why there is gap after b.tech. what do u know about steam turbine. how it is controlled. what is compounding of steam turbine. what do u know about threads. what are the types of threads. what is difference between acme and square thread. what is angle of v thread. what was ur final yr project. (and some questions on project like concept etc.) what machines do u expect in fully automated plants.(i told them cnc bt they just interrupted and said machines in companies like rcfl). what is stress. what is strain. what is hooks law. what is meaning of M, 16, and 1.5 in bolt designation M16*1.5. what is the value of 1 atm pressure in psi. tell me about ur family. what is ur hobbies.(i told traveling and novel reading then they asked where have u traveled till now) my home district is jalaun so they asked how why ur district named 'jalaun'. overall interview was lite and chill. penal members and dv staff was supportive.

RCFL interview experience Post: Management Trainee (Mechanical) For 48 posts 336 (1:7 ratio) candidates were called. Interview was held from 14 th January to 24th January 2021.
