Nobel Prize winner from Polytech: Vasily Leontiev's contribution to economic science! We used to know about three, but the staff of the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg State University made a real discovery: It turns out that the name of another genius is associated with our university — Vasily V. Leontiev! 🎓 In 1973, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for creating the "input — output method", which is used in all modern economic models. It is important that the Polytech was the only place in the USSR where Vasily Leontiev worked. 🌏 Besides, he was an officer of the Legion of Honor (France), a Knight of the Order of the Rising Sun (Japan) and an honorary doctor of universities in three countries.

Polytech celebrated Maslenitsa with an international round dance!

- getting acquainted with the rich history and customs of the Russian winter holidays; - workshops and games; - round dance and traditional tea party with ruddy pancakes.

 At the end of the Maslenitsa, the Student Club and the United Student Council of Dormitories organized a festive quest where the teams competed in strength, agility and wit. 🥞 The main competition was "Blinodelnya", a creative duel of pancake designs. The festival ended with the traditional burning of an effigy of Maslenitsa.

According to the organizers, 4,000 pancakes were eaten during the day!

The Russian-Arab club has opened at Polytech! Curious fact:

Arabic is the official language in 24 countries.

As part of the club's opening, the participants visited the exhibition dedicated to the heritage of Russia and Arab countries, got acquainted with the music performed in Arabic oud and Armenian duduk. And at the end of the evening, there was a performance by an Iraqi artist and a poetry reading. 🙌🏼 Among the honored guests of the event were the director of the Center for Russian-Arab Cooperation in St. Petersburg and the President of the NGO "African Unity".
