Query- "Sir , is join year long test series beneficial???" Answer - From mains point of view- Well, in my opinion daily answer writing in a group helps more. But for that you need to have a group where members are decent enough in writing answers. If you don't have such a group, then comprehensive year long test series surely does help. Your preparation is structured + feedback does help in improving your answers. Prelims- year long test series will surely help. But don't just stick to the test series very strictly. Make your own schedule as well. Side by side try to do justice to the test series i.e. can give a couple of days to prepare for a test, attempt the test & then go back to your own schedule.

Query - "Can gel pen be used in answer writing?" Answer - You can use any pen. I had used Pilot V5. Pen doesn't matter. Just make sure that your handwriting looks neat & legible.

Query -"were u able to use coloured pencils for ana or other diagrams in medical science" Answer - Well, time management is an issue in medical science optional. But you have to make coloured diagrams, preferably in every question. Try to write less and represent it more through diagrams. You need to practice answer writing beforehand to manage time in the actual exam.

For those who are facing issue in consolidating the facts, data etc... Compile such things section/topic wise . Like everything related to women in two pages....u can further divide the women section in subsections ...like crime/education/poverty......and put the subsequent fact/figure under it. Likewise u can make sections for....health/shgs/education/climate change etc.... This way it will be easy to revise and easy to recall while writing answer. Make it short . No language , just fact and figures. Still time is left u can prepare this. 👍🙏

Query- "Sir, when everyone reads almost the same( this will most probably apply for the prelims) for the UPSC CSE,,,why only few get selected? What is it for the selected ones? Where do the unselected ones go wrong?" Well, the most important reason why only few get selected is that there aren't enough vacancies. In CSE 2021, as per economictimes, 970000(nearly 1 million) candidates appeared in the exam(and the number who apply for prelims is usually double the number of candidates actually appearing in the exam). Only 712 vacancies were there. You need to get 99.93 percentile just to enter the list. 99.93% people are bound to fail in this exam. This is a harsh reality of this exam. At the same time- what do the slected ones do differently? # Consistent hardwork - Don't exhaust yourself but keep studying consistently, everyday. # Taking the pulse of exam- It is not only about hardwork. You need to know what UPSC wants. Go through PY question papers and find out UPSC's favourite topics. UPSC has its own downside. No exam is perfect. But instead of blaming the exam process(like I did during my 2nd attempt), try to maneuver through it. If you think prelims is all about guesswork, then learn the guesswork, else leave the battle. If you think UPSC is unfair towards a particular optional subject (which you have opted for), then change the subject. # Reading & Applying- Most of the people keep on reading without any attempt to apply that knowledge. You need to practice MCQs, practice answer writing, practice giving answers in the interview. # Learning from their mistakes- Many people keep repeating the same mistake again and again. You need to be flexible in your approach. If you aren't getting a decent score in mains- add facts, add maps, add diagrams etc in your answers. BE A LEARNER, NOT A KNOWER. # Confidence- I failed in my 1st prelims due to lack of knowledge but failed in 2nd prelims due to under confidence. Having faith in yourself is extremely important to clear this exam. # LUCK- plays a BIG ROLE. I cleared the exam twice but there are people I know who are much better than me. Still, they couldn't clear the exam even after multiple attempts. I am usually not very comfortable with answering such questions but I felt the need to express myself. Don't lost your self confidence if you aren't able to clear this exam. Don't see yourself as a failure. Life is much bigger than this exam. There are so many bigger & better things to do. CSE can change your life but at the same time, it is a highly OVERHYPED exam.
