SDF remembers Keith Broomfield: A story of heroism, struggle and sacrifice against terrorism SDF pays tribute to American internationalist Keith Broomfield, who came to Kobanê, saying, “I am here to be a part of the movement and to do my best to help" and fell a martyr nine years ago.   While clashes that erupted in Kobanê escalated after September 15, 2014, internationalists from all over the world arrived in the city to join this historical resistance of honour. One of these internationalists was an American, Keith Broomfield, who expressed the reason for his participation in the struggle in the following words: “I'm here to be a part of the movement, to do my best to help. You know, after all this, it seems to be the most correct thing to do.”

⚔Night of terror in Afrin due to internal feuds within the Jihadist factions supported by Türkiye Last night in Afrin there were heavy clashes with mortars and heavy weapons between the Hamza Division, the Suleiman Shah Brigade, Ahrar Sharqiyah and other factions controlled by Turkey, merged by the latter into the "Syrian National Army" to be used in the invasions of Afrin, Serekaniye and Gire Spi. These gangs are continually in conflict with each other for control of the territory. Various reports have described the system of extortion, terror and violence to which the population of occupied cities is subjected due to these militias and the Turkish army. June 3, 2024 Urgent international call for the replacement of the elected mayor with a government trustee in Hakkari Mr. Memet Siddık Akış, the elected co-mayor of Hakkari Metropolitan Municipality, was arrested this morning and replaced by the Governor of Hakkari. The investigative file used to justify this operation is based solely on baseless allegations from the police and the prosecutor. The dismissal of Mr. Akış, who was democratically elected, is a blatant coup against the will of the people of Hakkari, where the majority of the population is Kurdish. The AKP-MHP coalition's attempt to avenge its heavy defeat in the local elections by attacking the DEM party's municipalities means the abolition of the constitutional right to vote and be elected. Judgments by the European Court of Human Rights have shown that the broad and vague definition of “terrorism” as formulated in the Turkish legal system has become a tool used by the government to eliminate its political rivals. It is clear that the Home Office's dismissal of co-mayors and appointment of trustees is completely unlawful. Previously appointed administrators in HDP municipalities have not only sabotaged the will of the Kurdish people, but also generated massive corruption and financial losses. The economic and political destruction caused by the administrators appointed by the AKP-MHP coalition is a major obstacle to the democratization of the country and the democratic solution of the Kurdish question. The fact that this administrator policy has become a sort of standard practice suggests that administrators may be appointed in the near future in municipalities run by all opposition parties, including Istanbul. We would like to emphasize that the appointment of an administrator in Hakkari is not just a “national issue”. Turkey is a member of the Council of Europe and is also negotiating with the EU for full membership. Despite numerous promises of democratization and millions of euros in funding, Turkey's democratic institutions are subject to systematic repression, and elected politicians are exposed to judicial oppression. We call on all pro-democracy communities, parties and international institutions to take a firm stand against this political coup, stand in solidarity with the DEM Party and defend the political will of the people of Hakkari. The Cybernetic People's Army has hacked many websites of the Turkish occupying state A group calling itself the Cybernetic People's Army (ColdHackers CmG-TeaM) issued a written statement and announced that it has taken action against the war policies of the Turkish occupying fascist state against hundreds of websites of Turkish occupying companies by hacking many websites. The statement said, "The actions we are carrying out in the economic and digital fields are part of the legitimate struggle of the Kurdish people. "We are working with all our strength to listen to the voice of the oppressed Kurdish people and protect one's rights, oppose the false justice and cruelty of the Turkish state."

Graduation ceremony at Kobanê University Many people attended the graduation ceremony at Kobanê University on Saturday.   250 students graduated from all departments of Kobanê University. With the participation of thousands of people, a graduation ceremony was held at the Kobanê Stadium on Saturday. The celebration started with the reading of the Kurdish anthem ‘Ey Reqib’. The students also visited the Dicle Cemetery of Martyrs and dedicated their graduation to the martyrs. Speaking at the ceremony, Kobanê University Co-President, Şervan Muslim, said: “The graduation of 250 students is very important and the product of the revolution. The years of struggle and resistance, the legacy of thousands of martyrs and the fact that thousands of people came together today and attended the graduation ceremony of 250 students shows us a lot.” 🔗More
