Bill Gates' Plan to Control Africa's Crops: A Recipe for Disaster? Bill Gates has landed in Ethiopia for talks with the Prime Minister, with plans to transform African agriculture, dairy, and poultry sectors, focusing on hybrid seed farming. Their goal? To push farmers from age-old practices to patented GMO seeds, dependent on synthetic fertilizers and a mono-crop strategy. This move could grant Gates immense influence over the continent's food systems, environment, and economy. But, is this transformation truly beneficial, or does it herald a deeper crisis for Africa’s future? #AgriculturalReform #GMOCrisis #FoodSecurity #AfricaFutures ✤ Boost 👍 🚀 ➥ Join: Casting Out Deceptions ✅️

Next time you talk on your phone be careful! Facebook and Google are listening to your conversations Concerns about phones listening in on conversations have long been voiced. However, a new analysis indicates that these worries might not be unjustified. It has been revealed that a marketing business that works with big names in the industry, such as Google and Facebook, has acknowledged utilizing smartphone microphones to record customer interactions. According to a 404 Media investigation, this data is then utilized to target advertisements, as per the reports of the New York Post. Active listening software revealed Prominent radio and television news organization Cox Media Group (CMG) reportedly revealed to investors in a presentation that it employs a program known as "Active Listening." It is said that this artificial intelligence-driven program records talks in real time. According to CMG, by combining this voice data with behavioral data, advertisers are able to more efficiently approach potential customers. According to the business, users' interactions and online activities accidentally leave a trail of data behind. The software powered by artificial intelligence gathers and examines this data, which comes from more than 470 distinct sources. Additionally, CMG mentioned that some of its clients are Facebook, Google, and Amazon. Continue Reading... 📚 👀 ➥ Join: #LeaveOurKidsAloneSALOKA Chat Group

Paedophile co-authored transgender guide for children A convicted paedophile co-authored a taxpayer-funded guide on coming out as transgender for children as young as 13. Andrew Easton, 39, was caught by cybercrime officers while chatting online with someone he thought was a vulnerable 13-year-old, whom he referred to as “baby boy.” Easton, convicted last month at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, contributed to a guide for LGBT Youth Scotland (LGBTYS), which receives significant funding from the Scottish Government and local authorities. He played a role in an early version of the ‘coming out’ guidance issued by the organisation. LGBTYS’s former chief executive, James Rennie, is serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting a baby boy. Schools, local authorities, the Care Inspectorate, and government-run health and social care authorities have received an updated version of the guide. However, LGBTYS acknowledges that the original guide co-written by Easton may still be in use Continue Reading... 📚 👀 ➥ Join: #LeaveOurKidsAloneSALOKA Chat Group

❤️ Thanks everyone for your support and love! Last month I got interviewed by police for 4 days after arriving in Paris. I was told I may be personally responsible for other people’s illegal use of Telegram, because the French authorities didn’t receive responses from Telegram. This was surprising for several reasons:  1. Telegram has an official representative in the EU that accepts and replies to EU requests. Its email address has been publicly available for anyone in the EU who googles “Telegram EU address for law enforcement”.  2. The French authorities had numerous ways to reach me to request assistance. As a French citizen, I was a frequent guest at the French consulate in Dubai. A while ago, when asked, I personally helped them establish a hotline with Telegram to deal with the threat of terrorism in France. 3. If a country is unhappy with an internet service, the established practice is to start a legal action against the service itself. Using laws from the pre-smartphone era to charge a CEO with crimes committed by third parties on the platform he manages is a misguided approach. Building technology is hard enough as it is. No innovator will ever build new tools if they know they can be personally held responsible for potential abuse of those tools.  Establishing the right balance between privacy and security is not easy. You have to reconcile privacy laws with law enforcement requirements, and local laws with EU laws. You have to take into account technological limitations. As a platform, you want your processes to be consistent globally, while also ensuring they are not abused in countries with weak rule of law. We’ve been committed to engaging with regulators to find the right balance. Yes, we stand by our principles: our experience is shaped by our mission to protect our users in authoritarian regimes. But we’ve always been open to dialogue. Sometimes we can’t agree with a country’s regulator on the right balance between privacy and security. In those cases, we are ready to leave that country. We've done it many times. When Russia demanded we hand over “encryption keys” to enable surveillance, we refused — and Telegram got banned in Russia. When Iran demanded we block channels of peaceful protesters, we refused — and Telegram got banned in Iran. We are prepared to leave markets that aren’t compatible with our principles, because we are not doing this for money. We are driven by the intention to bring good and defend the basic rights of people, particularly in places where these rights are violated. All of that does not mean Telegram is perfect. Even the fact that authorities could be confused by where to send requests is something that we should improve. But the claims in some media that Telegram is some sort of anarchic paradise are absolutely untrue. We take down millions of harmful posts and channels every day. We publish daily transparency reports (like this or this ). We have direct hotlines with NGOs to process urgent moderation requests faster. However, we hear voices saying that it’s not enough. Telegram’s abrupt increase in user count to 950M caused growing pains that made it easier for criminals to abuse our platform. That’s why I made it my personal goal to ensure we significantly improve things in this regard. We’ve already started that process internally, and I will share more details on our progress with you very soon.  I hope that the events of August will result in making Telegram — and the social networking industry as a whole — safer and stronger. Thanks again for your love and memes 🙏

'Smart meters' looked like a great idea, writes Lynne Wycherley, giving us more control over our energy use. The downside? They emit as many as 14,000 short bursts of intense microwave radiation a day, disrupting cellular electrochemistry and causing health symptoms from migraine to tinnitus, insomnia, dizziness, anxiety, chest pain, palpitations and memory loss. Now a growing number of 'electro-sensitives' have had enough! #SmartMeters ✤ Continue Reading... 🗞 📰 ✤ Boost 👍 🚀 ➥ Join: Casting Out Deceptions ✅️

South Africa’s big IoT smart meter push South Africa is making a significant push towards smart meters powered by IoT (Internet of Things) technology, which promises to revolutionize how utilities like electricity and water are monitored and managed. With companies like Vula Telematix and Sigfox SA leading the charge, these smart meters aim to provide more accurate readings and efficient resource management, particularly in regions where utilities face challenges such as power outages or water shortages. However, a critical aspect of this new wave of smart metering is the software that controls these devices. This software is designed to be fully programmable, raising questions about its potential uses. One possible concern is the level of control this gives to utility providers—or even third parties—over consumer usage. For instance, could this software be used to remotely shut off or throttle utilities if consumption exceeds a certain threshold? Given the capability for remote control and the depth of data these systems collect, the critical question remains: why must there be software that must be fully programmable added to the metering process? What do they want to program? Is it that they need full access to the system to switch off our meters over a certain percentage of use? These questions are crucial as South Africa moves toward this high-tech future, where the balance between innovation and consumer rights must be carefully managed. Thousands of child abuse images detected on Telegram Web watchdog says app never responded to reports, as founder charged for allegedly failing to tackle abuse. A British internet watchdog that polices the web for child abuse has reported thousands of illegal images to Telegram over the past two years. The Cambridge-based Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), which has a government mandate to hunt down and remove illegal abuse images online, said it had flagged 2,294 images on Telegram since 2022. However, a spokesman said it had never received a response from Telegram to one of its reports, making it difficult to confirm whether the app had taken action to remove the posts. Some of the images included children as young as two years old. A third of the reported content included images or videos rated as category A, the worst forms of abuse. Telegram said it removed tens of thousands of groups and channels sharing child abuse content each month. In August, it claimed to have removed 50,000 such groups. However, the vast majority of Telegram’s groups are private and the company has said it would refuse to delete content shared within groups. “All Telegram chats and groups are private territory of their respective participants,” a company blog reads. “We do not perform any requests related to them.” Continue Reading... 📚 👀 ➥ Join: #LeaveOurKidsAloneSALOKA Chat Group

X Shutdown in Brazil: Musk Faces Backlash as Bluesky Gains Momentum In a dramatic turn of events, Elon Musk’s refusal to comply with Brazilian law led to X, one of the world’s most popular social networks, being blocked by the country's supreme court. Millions of Brazilian users were left disconnected as internet providers enforced the ban, prompting over 500,000 to migrate to the rival platform Bluesky. Musk's defiance, however, sparked both outrage and support, highlighting a deepening global battle over free speech and tech regulation. Will Musk's tech empire continue to challenge national sovereignty? [The Guardian] While in other news, Brazil's Supreme Court isn't just stopping at blocking X (formerly Twitter) in the country. The court has now issued a stern warning that fines are coming for those attempting to bypass the ban using virtual private networks (VPNs). This crackdown comes as a continuation of the government’s effort to enforce compliance with local laws, following Elon Musk's refusal to adhere to regulations. The move has sparked further debate on the balance between digital freedom and national law enforcement. Is Brazil setting a precedent for global tech regulation?
