ስጦታው ከአንድ ሰው በራፍ ላይ ቁጭ ብሎ ድንች የሚሸጥ ምሲኪን ሰው ነበረ። የቤቱ ባለቤት ሁሌም ወደ ውጪ ሲወጣ ይህንን ምስኪን ሰው ይመለከተው ነበረ። ቀኑን ሙሉ ብርድና ጸሀይ እየተፈራረቀበት ኑሮን ለማሸነፍ መድከሙ ስላሳዘነው በአቅሙ ሊረዳው ወሰነ። ነጋዴው አንዷን ድንች በ50 ሳንቲም ነበር የሚቸረችረው። ታዲያ ይህ ሰው ምስኪኑን ነጋዴ ለመርዳት በማሰብ በየቀኑ የአንድ ድንች ዋጋ እየሰጠው ለመሄድ ወሰነ። በየቀኑ 50 ሳንቲሙን እየሰጠው በአንጻሩ ምንም ድንች ሳይቀበል ይሄዳል። ከብዙ ጊዜ በኋላ ይህ ሰው እንደለመደው 50 ሳንቲሙን አኑሮለት ጉዞውን ቀጠለ። ድንገት ከኋላው “ጌታዬ” የሚል ጥሪ ይሰማል። ዞር ብሎ ሲመለከት ምስኪኑ ነጋዴ ነበር በሩጫ የደረሰበትና የጠራው። ሰውየው በፈገግታ “ከስንት ጊዜ በኋላ ለምን በቀን በቀን 50 ሳንቲም በነጻ እየሰጠሁ እንደማልፍ ልጠይቀኝ ነው ያስቆምከኝ?” አለው ነጋዴው ግን እያለከለከ “አይደለም ኸረ” ሲል መለሰ። ይሄኔ ሰውየው ግራ ገብቶት “እና ለምን አስቆምከኝ?” ቢለው “የድንች ዋጋ 75 መግባቱን ልነግርዎት ነው፤ እናም ስሙኒ ይጎድላል” አለው አሉ። ይህንን ታሪክ ቁልጭ አድርጎ የሰው ልጅን የአልጠግብ ባይነትና ያለማመስገንን ባህሪ የሚያንጸባርቅ ነው። ልክ እንደዚህ ምስኪን ነጋዴ ነጻ በሚሰጠን ነገር ላይ እንኳን እንደራደራለን። የእኛ ባልሆነው ሀብት እንሟገታለን። በቸርነት በተሰጠን ነገር ሁሉ ይበልጥ እንጠይቃለን። ሃምሳ ሳንቲም ለምን በነጻ ተሰጠኝ ሳይሆን ለምን ስሙኒ ጎደለ የሚል አመለካከት ስላለን እኮ ነው አብዛኛዎቻችን ባለን ነገር መደሰት የሚያቅተን። ብዙ ጊዜ ከፈጣሪ ጋርም ሆነ በየእለት ኑሮዋችን በነገሮች ላይ የምንደራደረው ልክ እንደዚህ ምስኪን ነጋዴ ነው። በነጻ የሚሰጠንን 50 ሳንቲም ሳይሆን የኑሮዋችንን ዋጋ እራሳችን ተምነን ቀሪው ጎደለ ብለን እንሟገታለን። ስዎች የሚሰጡንን ነጻ ፍቅር፤ ነጻ ክብር፤ ነጻ እምነት ዋጋ የማንሰጠው ቀሪውን ስሙኒ ስለምናስብ ነው። እኛ በባህሪያችን ነጻ የሆነን ነገር ዋጋ አንሰጠውም እንደውም አንድ ተናጋሪ ሰዎች አይምሮዋችንን በደንብ የማንጠቀምበት ነጻ ስለተሰጠን ነው ሲል ሰምቸው ግርምት ጭሮብኝ ነበር። እውነት እኮ ነው፤ የላፕቶፓችንን ያህል አይምሮዋችንን ዋጋ አንሰጠውም። ላፕቶፓችንን ቫይረስ እንዳይነካው የምንጠነቀቀውን ያህል አይምሮዋችን እንዳይበከል አንጠነቀቅም።የሚያስደንቀው ግን የሰው ልጅ በምንም ያህል ገንዘብ ሊገዛቸው የማይችላቸው ሀብቶቹ በሙሉ በነጻ የሚያገኛቸው ናቸው። በ50 ሳንቲሙ ያልተደሰተና ያላመሰገነ ሰው ስሙኒ ቢጨመርለት ምን ዋጋ አለው? በየቀኑ የሚቸረን 50 ሳንቲም ከበቂ በላይ ነው፤ አንዳንዴ ስሙኒው ይቀራል ብለን ሰጪውን ባናስቀይም መልካም ነበር፤ ነገር ግን ሰው ነን!!! ብዙ ጊዜ ደስታችንን የሚነጥቀን የ “ስሙኒ ይቀራል” አይነት አመለካከታችን ነው። የተሰጠንስ 50 ሳንቲም? የተሰጠን ነጻ ፍቅር፤ ነጻ ክብር፤ ነጻ እምነት፤ ነጻ ጤንነት፤ እነዚህ ሁሉ የ ሰጠንን ፈጣሪ እናመስግነው እንጂ አናማረው !
