CFF Gear from the "commando" era ! First Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Commando). - 1 para (cdo) was the first unit that tested and adopted the mandate and charter of a Special Forces (SF) Battalion. - 1 para (cdo) was a para regular unit before converting into commando on the lines of 9 Para (cdo) and 10 para (cdo). And before that it was a line infantry unit. - Post conversion from Cdo duty, 1 para (SF) was an experimental SAS type unit for the army. Their early mandate was very CQB/MOUT heavy. -1 PARA (cdo) almost became SG in 1981 when it was being raised under SFF.
