Announcement on the Postponement of UTA API WebSocket Updates (2026-08-27) To ensure the stability and compatibility of the UTA API updates, following further evaluation, we have decided to postpone the following WebSocket changes originally scheduled to go live on August 27, 2026, at 06:00 (UTC) (Original Announcement) 1. The welcome response for UTA Public WebSocket connections (Futures and Spot) will be changed from "message":"welcome" to "data":"welcome". A new pingTimeout field will be added. 2. [Modify] For all UTA public Websocket connections and private connections, extra spaces between parameters inside JSON body of push data will be removed. Update Schedule Before the above changes officially go live: 1. The existing WebSocket welcome response format will remain unchanged. 2. Users do not need to make immediate changes to their existing integrations regarding the above updates. 3. If you have already made the necessary adaptations based on the previous announcement, please ensure that your integration continues to support the existing WebSocket welcome response format for the time being. Announcement of KuCoin API Upgrade (2026-08-27) To further enhance the performance of KuCoin UTA-API, KuCoin will conduct zero-downtime upgrades at 06:00 (UTC) on August 27, 2026, upgrade is expected to last 120 minutes. During the upgrade periods, the UTA WebSocket may experience temporary disconnections, data loss, or delays. If any of the above issues occur, users may reconnect to the WebSocket to restore the connection. After the upgrade, the following updates will be introduced: [Modify] For all UTA public WebSocket connections (FUTURES and SPOT), the welcome response sent after a successful connection now returns "data":"welcome" rather than "message":"welcome". A new pingTimeout field is also included, which indicates the estimated interval (in ms) within which the client should receive a pong message from the server. To continuously improve the API resource management framework and enhance the efficiency and flexibility of API resource allocation for users, we have previously completed the upgrade of the Unified Trading Account (UTA) API rate limit mechanism, introducing the “Master-Sub Account Unified Rate Limit + Self-Managed Quota Allocation” model(link:https://www.kucoin.com/announcement/en-announcement-on-uta-api-rate-limit-rule-upgrade). This upgrade will extend to the Management API rate limit pool. Following the upgrade, the Management API rate limit rules will be changed from the current “independent rate limit per UID” model to a “unified master account and sub-accounts rate limit with flexible quota allocation” model. The Management API rate limit pool calculation method, quota allocation mechanism, and VIP upgrade/downgrade adjustment rules will remain consistent with the UTA API rate limit mechanism that has already been launched. 1. Effective Time This upgrade is scheduled to take effect on: 2026-08-27 09:00:00 (UTC) 2. Scope of Impact This adjustment applies only to: Rate Limit Pool: Management rate limit pool API Scope: Applies only to UTA API REST. Classic API remains unchanged. 3. Adjustment Details 1) Current Rules Each UID has an independent API rate limit quota; Master accounts and sub-accounts calculate rate limits independently; Rate limit resources cannot be shared across different sub-accounts. 【Illustration 1】 2) Updated Rules The system will allocate a unified total UTA API rate limit quota based on the user’s VIP level; All sub-accounts will share the same user-level total rate limit pool; Users may allocate the total rate limit quota across different sub-accounts as needed. 【Illustration 2】 4. Rate Limit Quota Details 1) The total rate limit quota rules for different VIP levels will remain consistent with the current UTA API quota rules. 2) Rate Limit Notes Newly created sub-accounts will have a default API rate limit of 10 requests per second. This default value will not be counted toward the user’s total API rate limit quota. Master account rate limit quota = User’s current total rate limit quota - Total quota allocated to sub-accounts (excluding the default 10 requests/s allocation). Upgrade and Downgrade Rules 3) Upgrade Rules If an account is upgraded, the available rate limit quotas for both master and sub-accounts will increase accordingly. Users may manually reconfigure sub-account rate limit allocations afterward. 4) Downgrade Rules If an account is downgraded, the rate limits of sub-accounts will be automatically adjusted proportionally to the new quota values. The master account rate limit will then be recalculated based on the total allocated quota of all sub-accounts. For example: A user is downgraded from VIP7 to VIP5 Total rate limit quota changes from 1000 to 700 The rate limit of each UID will be reduced proportionally to 70%. 5. Migration Rules for Existing Users During the initial migration of existing users, the following rules will apply: If the user has previously set rate limit values for sub-accounts: The rate limit values of both the sub-accounts and the master account will directly inherit the quota settings previously configured under the UTA API rate limit mechanism. If the user has not set rate limit values for sub-accounts: The sub-account rate limit will be set to the default rate limit value of 10 requests/second. If the user does not have any sub-accounts: The master account rate limit rules will be upgraded directly according to the new Management API rate limit mechanism. 6. API Weight Adjustment Following the adjustment of rate limit quotas for different VIP levels, the API weights for all relevant endpoints will be updated accordingly.
