SLS Hyderabad Review by Chakshita, Student SLS Hyderabad Once you are allotted with SLS Hyderabad - Message on @akanshbhaiyahnlu . So, I'll tell you about the facilities and opportunities available here and then you can make your decision, because I believe there is no solid yes or no answer for this question and all the factors need to be weighed in. 1. Attendance mandate and college timings :- We have to maintain 75% attendance compulsorily, failing which you will not be allowed to write the term end exams. The college timings are 9:30 am to 3:40pm, i.e., 5 classes of one hour each. 2. Fees and Hostel/mess: it is a fully residential campus, so hostel is mandatory. The hostel and mess fees is somewhere around 2.2 lakhs per year. Tuition fees is around 3.2 lakhs per year. This year's total fees is 5,75,000 including hostel and mess. 3. Library access: the library timings are 9:30 am to 9:30 pm as of now, but might be increased to 11:00 pm. There're plenty of books available in the library. We also have access to e-library, which includes subscription to various databases like SCC Online, Manupatra, EBC reader, LexisNexis, Westlaw Asia, JSTOR and alottt more, which is more than sufficient for your research work. 4. Curriculum and exams: We have two internals every semester, one of which requires us to write research papers for every subject, which is very helpful for improving your research skills, if you do it sincerely. And, ofcourse, at the end of every semester, there's a term end examination. The exams are spaced out such that you will have time to take up other competitions, online internships or anything else. 5. Internship break :- one month internship break after every semester, however, if the academic calendar allows, we get 5-10 days extra too. There's a training and placement cell in the college, you can apply for internships through them or on your own. 6. Faculty :- During the lockdown, the faculty was unstable, but the present faculty is really good and helpful and will always be genuinely interested to clear your doubts. In online classes, we were provided with enough study material. 7. Cells/centers: there are various cells and centers, like the moot court association, alternative Dispute Resolution society, literary and debate society, center for intellectual property and advocacy, center for specialisation in cyber laws etc. You can read about it on the website. There's an active mooting culture in the college and students have won various competitions. 8. Location and transport: the campus is located about 1½ to 2 hours away from the city. You can pool in with your friends and go to the city on weekends. There are 4-5 college cab drivers, you can contact them for transport. As of now, weekday out pass is not allowed. 9. Alumni base: four batches have passed out until now, so, the network is obviously isn't as strong as other established colleges, but as per my knowledge and what I have seen on their LinkedIn profiles, they are all working in goood companies, like CAM, SAM, Khaitan, AZB etc. And the current 4th and 5th years are also interning with those law firms. Plus, just remember that campus placements figures are only of the people who sit for the placements ... Not out of the whole batch. And, it all depends on how you make the best out of the opportunities... There are many students interning at tier 1 law firms. So, it doesn't really matter which college you come from, I mean, yes if you are from an NLU you might have an advantage, but that won't guarantee a placement just because you belong to an NLU or sls Pune. So, in a nutshell, there are a lot of opportunities here at SLSH, and especially, since it's a new college, you have a lottttt more chance to shinee and grab the best opportunity and be at the top of your batch. Query - Is there any form fees to apply to Vacancy in NLUs. 1. Yes. This is Last Year vacant seat Notification of GNLU. 2. And GNLU Vacant Seat Application Form was Rs 3500. Few NLUs takes 2000, 1500, 1000 etc. 3. So if you are targeting NLUs through Vacancy you may have to Spend 10,000 - 15000 rs in just Vacancy seat. So be very mindful where you are Applying. 4.
