| 6 | 📚 LESSON 4 — ORDER BLOCKS: WHERE INSTITUTIONS LEFT THEIR FOOTPRINT
The most powerful entry tool in SMC. 👇
An Order Block (OB) is the LAST opposing candle
before a significant market move.
This is where institutions placed large orders.
And because they placed large orders there —
they will DEFEND that zone when price returns. 🧱
📌 HOW TO IDENTIFY A BULLISH ORDER BLOCK:
1️⃣ Find a strong bullish impulse move (BOS)
2️⃣ Look at the candle IMMEDIATELY before that move started
3️⃣ That candle is usually BEARISH (red)
4️⃣ That red candle = your Bullish OB
5️⃣ Mark the HIGH and LOW of that candle as your zone
When price RETURNS to that zone → institutions defend it → price moves UP again.
📌 HOW TO IDENTIFY A BEARISH ORDER BLOCK:
1️⃣ Find a strong bearish impulse move (BOS downward)
2️⃣ Look at the candle immediately before that drop
3️⃣ That candle is usually BULLISH (green)
4️⃣ That green candle = your Bearish OB
5️⃣ Mark that zone. When price returns → price drops again.
📌 NOT ALL ORDER BLOCKS ARE EQUAL:
Strong OB characteristics:
✅ Caused a BOS (not just a small move)
✅ Has a FVG above/below it (imbalance)
✅ On a higher timeframe (4H or Daily)
✅ Price hasn't returned to it yet (fresh)
✅ Located in a premium/discount zone
Weak OB characteristics:
❌ Only caused a small move
❌ Price has already visited it multiple times
❌ On a very low timeframe (1M or 5M)
❌ No FVG associated with it
📌 THE RULE:
Only trade OBs that caused a BOS.
Only trade FRESH OBs (first or second visit).
Always look for LTF confirmation before entering.

Last time price was at that level → shot up $3.00 in 24 hours.
That tells us institutions are active at that zone.

Liquidity in trading = clusters of stop loss orders.
Here's the truth most retail traders never learn:
Stop losses ARE orders.
When your stop loss gets hit — someone BOUGHT from you.
That someone is usually an institution filling a large position.
📌 WHERE LIQUIDITY POOLS EXIST:
BSL — Buy Side Liquidity (above the market):
• Above swing highs
• Above equal highs
• Above resistance levels
• Above previous ATH
SSL — Sell Side Liquidity (below the market):
• Below swing lows
• Below equal lows
• Below support levels
• Below round numbers ($80K, $85K, $90K)
📌 HOW INSTITUTIONS USE IT:
To go LONG (buy) institutions need massive sell orders to buy from.
So they push price DOWN to sweep SSL first.
Retail traders get stopped out. Those stops = sell orders.
Institution fills their buy orders. Price then shoots UP.
To go SHORT (sell) institutions need massive buy orders to sell into.
So they push price UP to sweep BSL first.
Retail traders get stopped out. Those stops = buy orders.
Institution fills their sell orders. Price then drops DOWN.
📌 THIS IS WHY:
• Resistance levels ALWAYS get broken before reversals
• Support levels ALWAYS get broken before bounces
• Price ALWAYS overshoots before reversing
That overshoot = the liquidity sweep. 💧
📌 HOW TO USE THIS:
Mark every obvious swing high on your chart = BSL
Mark every obvious swing low = SSL
When price approaches SSL → don't short. WAIT for the sweep → then look for LONG.
When price approaches BSL → don't long. WAIT for the sweep → then look for SHORT.
Stop being the liquidity.
