The line graph shows how much money was spent on books in four countries, namely Germany, France, Italy and Austria between 1995 and 2005. Units are measured in millions of US dollars. Overall, the money spent on books in all countries increased steadily. The highest figure was for Germany, while Italy experienced the lowest over the span of ten years. By 1999, the figures for Germany and Austria had risen slightly by 10 million dollars to 90 and 40, respectively. Germany saw a mere decrease to 85 in 2003, whereas expenditures of Austrian people for books rose dramatically to 60. Both countries finished the year with an upward trend, approximately 72 for Austria and almost 96 for Germany. As far as Italy and France are concerned, they started with 50 and 55, in the order given. In 1997 they met at approximately 57. France started to grow in 1999 and continued until 2005 to about 75 million dollars. As for Italy, it experienced a little decrease in 1999, before it grew gradually to 62 by the end of period given.
