Hi, mates. I came across this short course about starting a startup: to determine your target customers/market, to understand what problems to solve, and other critical questions you ask yourself before kicking off. It's closed, but the authors liked our channel and they offered exclusive access just for subscribers. They prepared 10 lessons for ~10 mins or so to help you get started. As you saw in this channel, it's easy to get some idea, but it becomes complicated when you start thinking further. So many questions emerge! Here's the first lesson about customer segments I'll publish the second lesson tomorrow! After the course completion: - you'll get a professional business plan based on your answers at the end of every lesson in the form of a video presentation from experts in ~2 days after completion. - you can participate in the IdeaFactory startups' acceleration program and get funding. - you'll have a possibility to tell about your idea and receive their experts' feedback.

Today we talk about real-world problems that can be solved by software: 1. Is there a way to automate pulling my Patreon supporter list and showing it on stream? I want to add a list of supporters from my Patreon to my "stream ending" screen in OBS, without having to manually update a txt file every time the list changes. Is there any easy way to pull that information automatically from my Patreon and integrate it into a scene? Source 2. How do you automatically update pivot tables and graphs when you change underlying data? I used to do a lot of Excel reports and had to get new data and update reports manually. By manually, it means inserting the data, changing formula references and graph references to get say the last 12 months of data, refreshing pivot tables etc. Is there an easier way to automate all of this? Ideally, it would be nice to just insert the data you need, then the rest of the spreadsheet is updated. So it will pick the last 12 rows of data for the last 12 months and reflect that in the formula references and graphs. I think the best way to achieve this is through VBA? Or can Power BI do something similar? Source If you're interested in problems to solve, take a look at Olwi - I'm looking for feedback on how to improve it!

Quick orders at restaurants Problem: I go to a restaurant and wait for a waiter to come to me, bring a menu and then I need some time to ponder what food/drinks I want. Sometimes it takes too long to make an order due to busyness of the waiters, for example. Solution: a mobile app where I make an order before going to a cafe/restaurant. Or, when I come to the place and make an order so I don't need to wait for someone. I suppose such an idea is implemented somewhere. But it's not popularized. A service in some restaurants could be much better.

Entertain me! A website that recommends you some activity to do when you're bored. For example, it hints you to listen to music(a specific playlist, group, or a song), if you like it, the system will recommend similar activities in the future. If you prefer other things to do in your current mood, it'll try to suggest to you other activities, like watching a specific movie, visiting an online museum, gallery, having a conversation with a person, or, maybe listening to music with a group of people online.

Data sets normalizer A service that normalizes all kinds of data. It sounds simple, but it's hugely complicated to do. Once done, it can be a must-have tool that provides API to quickly and cheaply normalize data. Another business idea to implement employing manual work is: Manual data sets normalizer A platform where companies/individuals hire people who will normalize any kind of data. It's much more cheaper to hire on the platform than to spend a lot of money to do this by data scientists team. There is a lot of such services that provide you freelancers for any kind of work, that's true. This is a niche service that can even hire such freelancers part/full time by manually picking right people. It would supply companies with a top-level service as they shouldn't think about how to choose the right freelancer for such kind of routine work.

Trends monitoring by industry A tool that helps you to see current trends divided by industry. They are aggregated from various sources such as social networks' activity, news, etc. Since such tools exist, not many of them provide a possibility to search for trends in a particular industry, category, niche, or all of that, plus a search term.

Twitter catalog Problem: it's difficult for new people on Twitter to find interesting people to follow. There is a search, but how do they know what keywords to use? Possible solution: a browser extension or an app that shows you interesting people based on your preferences: location, a domain(about what a person posts), an average tweets per day, total tweets number, an average number of likes/retweets/comments per tweet, etc.

Solve my pains A platform where people that work in various industries share their daily pains and problems that they think could be better handled. It allows business-minded people to consider new ideas and approaches to help people that have real problems. On the platform, I, as a user, can create a topic about what annoys me at my work daily. Other users see my topic and can discuss the problem too. Someone will say they have a similar problem and maybe it was solved. Or, the problem wasn't solved and a company is looking for a way to handle it. Maybe people can share their opinions on that.

Gratitude net An app that tracks your gratitude feelings where you may point target people, so they'll get notified, though all of that is anonymous. Or, there is a possibility to not be anonymous, and people will receive messages saying you're grateful to them.

Genome Storage The cost to sequence the human genome continues to decline; because of this and given the fact that more genomes will be sequenced in the future, it is extremely important that when these genomes are sequenced they are stored securely and safely since it is very sensitive data. Solution: Secure health records database to store things like human genomes. Costs of sequencing the genome have decreased from over $10,000 to less than $1,000.
