More than $5.4 million has been lost to Government Officials Impersonation Scams (GOIS) since April 2026. 😱 Scammers, impersonating Government officials, have been accusing victims of being involved in criminal activities. ⚠️ WhatsApp OTP (One-Time Password) scams are on the rise For such scams, scammers would attempt to log into victims’ WhatsApp accounts by entering their mobile numbers on WhatsApp and request for a WhatsApp verification OTP. This would trigger an SMS containing the OTP to be sent to victims. Scammers would pretend to be victims’ friends and ask victims for the OTP, claiming that the OTP was sent to them by mistake.
