Seeking Freedom: Everyone has a past. We and when I say we, I mean all of us, we all want to live in that past. Who wouldn’t want to live their happy moments again? Who can escape that moment of despair and destruction? Who can dust their failures of past? Have you not seen the great leaders of our present generation constantly taking us to our past? We are again and again brought back to our so called ‘Great dream’ we once lived.! No matter how beautiful or ugly, we want to live that past again. Past comforts us. We all have been chained in our past as if the past is our only identity. I do not know if this is a good thing or bad, may be someday in future, I will look back to this post and see if it really mattered. After all, as an intelligent species, we humans tend to evaluate our past experiences and emotions. By now many of you must be wondering, why on Earth am I talking about past? Past shape our emotions. We do not want to move on because we create a deep well and entrap ourselves in this dark well to continuously live the things once happened to us and emotions we once shared. Past shapes our feelings. Grateful or disappointed, we do not want to escape that singular event that happened to us as we certainly feel for it. Past create fears. Fear of doing something new, fear of moving on haunts us, so we tend to live in that past. Thus, past defines the very existence of us all. And, and..it is because of this I propose you this thought that one must first understand one’s past but at the same time free oneself from it. Because only the true understanding of our past can help us build our future better. Today when few of you will soon start (many must have already started) CSPT-21 preparations and many others will start CSP-22 preparations, I want you to first recall your past. Recall how you failed or passed, how you missed your name in the respective lists of FR and CSM last time. Feel for that moment however dark and miserable you may. Feel how you were tagged as underachiever, how some of your known ones lamented you as a failure for life, how someone told you that they do not have any sympathy for your failures. Recall how you cried when no one was watching you. You were broken, you wanted to just end everything. It was an existential crisis, wasn’t it? How the moments that could have become moments of glory became the moments of helplessness. No one can relate to your emotions and feelings better than you. That day it looked like your world has ended, you lost your hope, you cursed yourself. May be you would have attempted few more questions correctly, you might have written CSM-21 etc etc. Feel everything that you can for your past. But don’t make your feelings your fears. Now that you have just lived your past, i want you to begin a process, process to seek freedom from this. The only true redemption is to achieve success, somehow and anyhow. A massive success. And this process of success is a process of seeking freedom. Seeking freedom from the people who couldn’t treat you better and left you unattended for months when you failed. Seeking freedom from the fear of failing again that now you carry deep in your heart. Seeking freedom from the isles of depression and misery that you have created in your mind and seeking freedom from the wounds that you have painted on your soul. Do not detach from your past but seek freedom from it. Because once you achieve freedom from within, you will shape your freedom outside. Your efforts, your sacrifices and your struggle, these are your true measures and everything else is just a background noise. Remember, if you are fighting for a worthy cause, you will face certain obstacles because many others must be fighting for their great worthy cause too. Only the one who has control over her emotions, feelings and fears will succeed. This will come only if you have mastered your past and tread the path of seeking freedom. Once you purify your cause (intention) and devise a viable plan and start implementing it (karma), nothing can stop you, not even God.

Part (2/2) Because after this, what will remain will be your character, character that defines your present and character that will shape your future. In the end, it is true that every good plan needs a little bit of luck but that will come into picture only if you have conquered your past (mind) and purified your intentions (soul). To conclude, let me borrow few lines from a poem (by Gurudev Tagore): “Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them, Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved but hope for the patience to win my freedom”. Best wishes for seeking freedom, Kaptaan 🙏 P.S. This post has nothing to do with CSM-21 results or anything else apart from a general motivational purpose for that matter.
