| 18 | Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān said :
ولا بأس أن تأتي الحائض بالأذكار الشرعية من التهليل والتكبير والتسبيح والأدعية، وأن تأتي بالأوراد الشرعية المشروعة في الصباح والمساء، وعند النوم والاستيقاظ، ولا بأس أن تقرأ في كتب العلم؛ كالتفسير والحديث والفقه
❝There is no harm in a menstruating woman reciting the prescribed remembrances of Allāh, such as saying Lā ilāha illā Allāh (tahlīl), Allāhu Akbar (takbīr), Subḥān Allāh (tasbīḥ), and making duʿāʾ. She may also recite the legislated adhkār for the morning and evening, as well as those prescribed before sleeping and upon waking. Likewise, there is no harm in her reading books of [Islamic] knowledge, such as books of Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, and Fiqh.❞

| 19 | ‘Aa’ishah’s Kunya – Umm ’Abdillaah
‘Aaishah رضي الله عنها narrated that when ‘Abdullaah ibn az-Zubayr رضي الله عنه was born I brought him to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. He blew lightly into his mouth so it was the first thing to enter his throat. He said ‘He is ‘Abdullaah and you are Umm ‘Abdillaah’ So I continued to be called by this kunya even though I never had children.’
Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan 7240
NB. A kunya is a phrase used to call someone out of respect. The Arabs use it instead of the first name. Usually, it is the name of the first born son. Father of so and so or Mother of so and so. For example: Aboo Bakr (Father of Bakr), Umm ‘Abdillaah (Mother of ‘Abdullaah). Notice that the vowels change due to grammar rules when Umm or Aboo is placed before the name.
