When Justice Rises | حين يقوم القائم إِذَا قَامَ الْقَائِمُ حَكَمَ بِالْعَدْلِ وَ ارْتَفَعَ فِي أَيَّامِهِ الْجَوْرَ وَ امْنَتِ بِهِ السُّبُلَ وَ أَخْرَجَتِ الأَرْضُ بَرَكَاتِـهَا وَ رَدَّ كُلَّ حَقٍّ إِلـى أَهْلِهِ وَ لَمْ يَبْقَ أَهْلَ دِيْنٍ حَتّى يُظْهِرُ الإِسْلاَمَ وَ يَعْتَرِفُوا بِالإِيْمَانِ. “When al-Qa’im makes his advent, he will judge with justice and during the time of his advent, all forms of tyranny will be removed and the paths (towards him) will be made safe. The Earth will bring forth Her blessings and the rights of each and every person will be given to them and no person who follows any other religion (din) will remain except that they will accept al-Islam and will come towards true faith.” Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 52, pg. 338.

How To Be Free عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عليه السلام يَقُولُ: إِنَّ الْحُرَّ حُرٌّ عَلى جَمِيعِ أَحْوَالِهِ، إِنْ نَابَتْهُ نَائِبَةٌ صَبَرَ لَهَا؛ وَإِنْ تَدَاكَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَصَائِبُ لَمْ تَكْسِرْهُ؛ وَإِنْ أُسِرَ وَقُهِرَ وَاسْتُبْدِلَ بِالْيُسْرِ عُسْراً - كَمَا كَانَ يُوسُفُ الصِّدِّيقُ الْأَمِينُ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ - لَمْ يَضْرُرْ حُرِّيَّتَهُ أَنِ اسْتُعْبِدَ وَقُهِرَ وَأُسِرَ، وَلَمْ تَضْرُرْهُ ظُلْمَةُ الْجُبِ وَوَحْشَتُهُ وَمَا نَالَهُ أَنْ مَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ؛ فَجَعَلَ الْجَبَّارَ الْعَاتِيَ لَهُ عَبْداً بَعْدَ إِذْ كَانَ لَهُ مَالِكاً، فَأَرْسَلَهُ وَرَحِمَ بِهِ أُمَّةً، وَكَذلِكَ الصَّبْرُ يُعَقِّبُ خَيْراً؛ فَاصْبِرُوا وَوَطِّنُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ عَلَى الصَّبْرِ تُوجَرُوا. Abu Baseer narrates that Imam Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad Al-Sadiq AS said: “The truly free (person) is free under all conditions. When faced with adversity he exercises patience, and when calamities befall him, one after the other, they do not break him, even if he is imprisoned, subjugated, and hardship replaces his former ease. Just like Yūsuf, the truthful, the trustworthy. Enslavement, subjugation, and imprisonment did not rob him of his freedom. The darkness and loneliness of the well did not affect it, nor what transpired thereafter. Until Allah bestowed favour on him, so He made the insolent tyrant who had been his master into his (i.e. Yūsuf’s) slave, then He commissioned him and saved through him a whole people. Such is patience: It brings about a good end.
