DC Comics is going small next June with a new line of graphic novels called DC Compact Comics. The graphic novel line will feature a 5.5″ x 8.5″ standard book trim for trade paperback novels. The new format pulls bestselling, new-reader-friendly titles from DC’s evergreen library. “The DC Compact Comics price and sizing is perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new-reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full color graphic novel,” said Anne DePies, SVP & General Manager, DC. “This 5.5″ x 8.5″ paper cut is the most widely circulated softcover book size in the US and is popular among graphic novel aficionados in international markets. At $9.99, it’s a great price point for retailers to stock these classic titles.

Lettura caruccia caruccia. C'è più un'idea interessante che una buona esecuzione e l'unica vera colpa è che non c'è nulla all'interno dell'albo che somigli vagamente alla copertina.

L'inizio di Outlaw è invece folgorante: il ritmo e l'atmosfera della storia cambiano drasticamente presentando ai lettori le basi di un heist, allontanando il centro dell'attenzione dal Pipistrello bensì lavorando in maniera tangenziale sui personaggi secondari che hanno affollato le storie back-up. V & Watters qui rafforzano il loro dialogo giocando a rincorrersi tra storie e accenni precedenti, mettendo su le basi per un interludio davvero esplosivo. Jason Shawn Alexander è la gloriosa ciliegina sulla torta.

Il contributo di Dan Watters nelle back-up è stato, tra le altre cose, finora egregio e clamoroso. Ogni storia ha ampliato la visione d'insieme e ogni intervento dell'autore ha offerto una chiosa imperdibile al lavoro di V nella storia principale.
