A major counter-espionage operation by Delhi Police Special Cell began in January after an international number linked to a Pakistani intelligence handler came under the radar.

+ The Pakistani handler allegedly recorded the officer during video calls and later blackmailed him.

+ The handler allegedly went further: the officer was asked to install remote-access/data-stealing malware on a senior officer’s phone to gain control of the device.
+ Encrypted messaging apps were allegedly used to transmit sensitive documents and information.
+ The officer was eventually arrested by Air Force Police and handed over to Delhi Police while allegedly preparing to share further information with the Pakistani handler.
The alleged honey trap had evolved into a full-fledged espionage operation.
