केंद्र सरकार जल्द ही Gold Monetisation Scheme (GMS) का नया संस्करण ला सकती है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, इसकी घोषणा अगले दो हफ्तों में हो सकती है। इस योजना के जरिए सरकार घरों, मंदिरों और संस्थानों में वर्षों से रखा 1,000 टन से ज्यादा Un-Used सोना अर्थव्यवस्था में लाना चाहती है। *यह योजना 2015 में शुरू हुई थी, लेकिन लोगों की कम भागीदारी के कारण इसे उम्मीद के मुताबिक सफलता नहीं मिली। अब सरकार इसमें बदलाव करते हुए बैंकों के साथ अधिकृत ज्वेलर्स को भी Collection Partner बनाने की तैयारी कर रही है।* सरकार का मानना है कि इससे लोगों के लिए सोना जमा कराना आसान होगा और देश की सोने के आयात पर निर्भरता भी कम हो सकती है। इससे Gold Import Bill, विदेशी मुद्रा पर पड़ने वाला दबाव और Current Account Deficit (CAD) कम करने में मदद मिल सकती है। साथ ही, ज्वेलरी उद्योग को भी स्थानीय स्तर पर सोने की बेहतर उपलब्धता मिल सकेगी।
