According to some, financial and social problems are the causes of most criminal acts while others think biological factors are to blame for. Although, genetics make people somehow predisposed to criminality, I believe that being financially-disadvantaged and issues in the society such as substance abuse increase the likelihood of illegal actions in majority of cases. Innate traits are believed by some to turn people into criminals. That is not to say criminals are born that way, but just that biological factors are shown to rise the likelihood of committing criminal acts. Almost all of the qualities passed down from previous generation both directly and indirectly affect the way people behave. This means that the generation of criminals such as serial killers or robbers is less likely to be far away form a criminal world. However, regardless of how ill-natured people are, their circle may turn the situation into a positive side as who they are around can greatly influence who they actually are, I believe. In other words, if they are surrounded with people who have proper moral compass and almost no predisposition to break rules, they may grow up as normal individuals of the society. Thus, in most cases, we should not consider genetics as the main reason for majority of criminal cases. Others, including me, believe that economic deprivation is one primary root cause of illegalities. It has been revealed by most American criminologists that poverty turns us into criminals. Being unable to make ends meet gives us intense stress, after which the only possible way of getting out of such problematic situation seems resorting to crime. Apart from that the problems in the society like addiction to intoxicants contribute to the rise of criminal cases hugely. The criminal behavior and drug abuse are undoubtedly linked as its consumption overexcite nervous system and affect self-control and decision-making adversely which directly leads to committing crime. Recent British statistics can be a case in point, according to it, over 60 percent of individuals, arrested for various crimes such as burglary, shoplifting and vandalism, tested positive for illegal drugs at the time of arrest. Thus, it is logical to think that economic deprivation and social issues including drug addiction are two main triggers for criminal cases. In conclusion, while genetic traits may increase the number of criminalities to some extent, I believe, financial problems and social issues like consumption of intoxicants are core of most law-breaking cases.

As helping all people seems unrealistic, government authorities should concentrate on internal welfare. I partially agree with this statement because I believe that governments should be willing to give international aid to countries which suffer from natural disasters. The primary reason why government authorities should not be altruistic is that they must focus on national priorities which aim at both developing their own country and enhancing the lifestyle of citizens. This can be done by allocating a major part of the government budget to the development of essential areas such as education, medicine and military. It is required to invest billions, if not trillions, of dollars on a yearly basis if they want to make a considerable progress in these spheres, which they must. If governments decide to support all people all around the world, they have to cut down the investments they make to the abovementioned fields which means that necessary amount of money may not be directed at crucial areas of the country. This, in turn, leads to an increase in the number of domestic issues such as regress in the literacy, health rate of the population and more security threats to a country. Thus, I think, it is more logical to concentrate on developing core aspects of a country. On the other hand, government officials should not be blind to particular issues which occur occasionally all around the globe. One common problem faced by most countries is dealing with the consequences of natural disasters. In other words, after severe earthquake destroys a number of houses, workplaces and even cause deaths of thousands of people, government authorities and the population of the country are always in need of both psychological and financial support. The striking example of highly damaging earthquake is the one which occurred in Turkey last year, after which more than 100 countries pledged support for victims, including humanitarian aid and monetary support. More than twenty countries provided teams with search and rescue dogs to locate victims under the debris. This clearly shows that it is essential to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in such unfortunate situations. To conclude, despite the fact that it is not possible to support the whole population of the world since centering on the national growth is more important, I think, it is a moral obligation to support a country which has a hard time after natural disasters such as earthquake.
