Every time I compare myself to other girls I envy their lives. Their plans. Their dreams for the future. They talk about tomorrow like it's a place that still wants them there.
My big plan this month is to make it to payday and buy my dad a warm jacket. I try to get him to walk every day for his heart. He lights another cigarette. Family wellness is going great🙏🏻
I'm so stressed I can barely think past getting through the day. Other people are building a future. I'm wandering through the fog with no map, no ammo and a health bar I'm too tired to check.
So I'm reminding myself not to compare. We're all carrying different shit. Some people carry dreams. I carry worry and the feeling that the town knows exactly what I did. Which is weird because all I did was try to have a normal week.
My life is gray and damp and smells like fear and death. But it's mine.
And somehow I'm still the main character. The monsters are mostly stress and the ending is probably just me waking up tired again.
