Simple Future Tense Use with Examples The simple future tense is used to talk about actions or events that will happen in the future. --- 1. To express an action that will happen in the future Used for decisions or actions that are not happening now. Examples: I will visit my grandparents tomorrow. She will complete her homework tonight. They will play a match next week. --- 2. To express promises Used when someone makes a promise. Examples: I will help you with your work. He will never lie again. We will support our team. --- 3. To express decisions made at the moment of speaking Used when the decision is made instantly. Examples: The phone is ringing. I will answer it. It is very hot. I will open the window. --- 4. To express predictions (based on opinion or belief) Used for future predictions. Examples: I think our team will win the match. She will become a good doctor. It will rain today. --- 5. To express offers and requests Used to offer help or make polite requests. Examples: I will carry your bag. Will you help me with this sum?

Simple Past Tense Use with Examples The simple past tense is used to talk about actions or events that were completed in the past at a definite time. --- 1. To express a completed action in the past Used for actions that happened and finished in the past. Examples: I visited my grandparents yesterday. She completed her homework last night. They won the match. --- 2. To express past habits or regular actions Used for things that happened regularly in the past but do not happen now. Examples: He walked to school every day. We played in the park after school. She read storybooks every evening. --- 3. To express a sequence of actions in the past Used when several actions happened one after another. Examples: He entered the room, switched on the light, and sat down. She opened the book and started reading. --- 4. To describe past facts or situations Used for states or conditions that were true in the past. Examples: My father worked in a private company. I lived in Delhi for five years. She was very shy as a child. --- 5. To express actions at a specific time in the past Often used with time expressions such as yesterday, last night, last week, ago. Examples: We met our teacher last week. He finished the work two hours ago. The train arrived late yesterday.

To express fixed schedules, timetables, and programs Used for official or planned timings. Examples: The school opens at 9 a.m. The train arrives at 6 o’clock. The exam starts tomorrow. --- 6. To give instructions or directions Used in rules, instructions, and commands. Examples: Open your books. Write your name at the top. Switch off the lights.
