فقه الحج والعمرة Question: His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Baz, may Allah protect him. السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته وبعد: We are doctors from some Islamic countries who have come to work during the Hajj period in Mecca. We intend to perform Hajj and Umrah (as Tamattu’). We have performed Umrah, but our work circumstances do not allow us to stay in Arafat during part of the night. We must return to our workplace before sunset. What is obligatory for us to do? We know that Hajj is Arafat, and we might not have the opportunity to perform Hajj again in our lifetime. Also, what should we do if we remove our Ihram clothes before Tahallul (partial exit from the state of Ihram) and before throwing Jamrat al-Aqabah, as wearing Ihram clothes is not allowed at our workplace? May Allah reward you with goodness on our behalf. Answer: وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته: If one stands in Arafat during the daytime, they must remain until night. If they leave before sunset and do not return after sunset…

Question: His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Baz, may Allah protect him. **السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته: وبعد** We are doctors from some Islamic countries who have come to work during the Hajj period in Mecca. If they leave before sunset and do not return after sunset, they are required to offer a sacrifice (dam). However, if they return after sunset and stand during the night of Nahr (the night preceding the day of Eid al-Adha) without having stood during the day, there is nothing required of them. As for removing the Ihram clothes before the first Tahallul (partial exit from the state of Ihram), it is not permissible except in cases of necessity or a legitimate excuse. If you remove Ihram and wear stitched clothes such as a shirt, you are required to offer a fidya (compensation), which is a choice between fasting for three days, sacrificing a sheep, or feeding six needy people, each receiving half a sa' (approximately 1.5 kilograms) of the staple food of the country. Similarly, if you cover your head with something like a turban, the aforementioned expiation is required. May Allah grant everyone success. Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you. Question addressed to His Eminence by a group of doctors from some Islamic countries.
