U.S. President Trump announced tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks (all sizes), auto parts and steel will be raised to 50% effective Jan. 1, 2027 , and said goods produced in the United States would be exempt.

Global stock market indices are mostly flat to slightly up, led by modest gains in Japanese and German equities, while major US benchmark indices reflect negligible losses.
Energy commodities are advancing consistently across the board. Precious and base metals are largely down, marked by pullbacks in gold, silver, and platinum.
Currency markets show minimal movement across major pairs.
