Of these , Makum coalfield in sibsagar district is the most developed field. 2. In the mikir hills coalfield – koilajan, Langlor, Diogarang river area are important. 3. Assam coals contain very low ash and high coking qualities but the sulphur content is high, as a result of which this coal is not suitable for metallurgical purposes. MEGHALAYA. 1. Garo, khasi and Jaintia hills are believed to have depository of tertiary coal belonging to lower Eocene. ARUNACHAL PRADESH 1.
