Multiple sub-parts, highly compartmentalised questions, and little scope for generic answers even if you knew the topic.
For next year, preparation has to move beyond the data-fact-sheet/900-page PDF approach.
Coaching claims aside, the real challenge was mental agility understanding the question in the first read and producing a relevant answer under Mains pressure.
It’s less about how much you can mug up, and more about how well you can think, adapt and write..
GS-2 was tough, as expected, especially if you’ve been following the trend of recent papers. Heavy current-affairs linkage, multi-layered questions, and sheer length made it a mammoth task.
As UPSC evolves, perhaps our answer-writing approach should too. Is it time to rethink the standard bullet-point format and experiment more with paragraph-based answers? Worth thinking about.

Paper dekhne mein toh bahar se kaafi manageable lag raha tha, but exam hall mein picture thodi different hoti hai.
Overall, paper achha tha. Thankfully, is baar koi unexpected bouncer nahi aaya especially if you had a fair idea about the Fujiwhara effect, jo pichhle kaafi time se news mein hai.
Aur jinhone Prelims ki preparation genuinely strong rakhi thi, unko definitely advantage mila hoga.
