| 5 | CA Inter Jan 2027: Single Group or Both Groups? 🤔
I honestly don't understand why so many students are confused about whether to attempt a single group or both groups in the January 2027 CA Inter examination.
Instead of making a decision based on emotions, peer pressure or guesswork, evaluate your position based on facts and performance.
Let me give you a practical, criteria-based approach to make a wise decision.
1️⃣ When should you consider attempting BOTH groups?
If you appeared for both groups in September 2026 and:
✅ Your aggregate score was 270+ marks.
✅ You failed in only 1–2 subjects.
✅ Your concepts are reasonably strong, and you can dedicate sufficient time to the subjects you need to improve.
Then, you may be in a position to consider attempting both groups in January 2027.
But here is the strategy: Focus on securing exemptions in atleast three subjects, while preparing the remaining subjects with the objective of securing 45-50 marks.
Don't distribute your time equally across all six subjects. Allocate it based on your existing scores, subject-wise weaknesses and the marks you need to clear.
Stop making decisions blindly!
Today's CA examinations demand conceptual clarity, application skills and the ability to handle unfamiliar case scenarios.
A strategy that worked for someone else may not work for you.
Before choosing between a single group and both groups, analyse your previous performance, available preparation time, subject-wise strengths and the realistic possibility of clearing the examination.

But I also know that 90% students reading this with a heavy heart.
"Sir... I didn't clear."
I can understand that feelings. I understand the disappointment, that frustration, and the self-doubt because I too have experienced it myself.
"Sir, my juniors have cleared, but I'm still struggling."
Yes, I can relate to that too.
But before you conclude that you are not capable, take a step back and analyse what went wrong.
When I failed, I knew exactly where I was lacking:
1️⃣ I had not taken enough test series seriously.
2️⃣ Many of my concepts, especially in Accounts and Audit, were not crystal clear.
3️⃣ I had not done enough writing practice and self-solving of questions.
I believe most students who didn't clear their exam today are usually falling short in one or more of above areas.
These are problems that can be fixed.
You are left with approx 2 months away for Jan 27 exam.
This is not the time to lose confidence.
This is the time to change the strategy, identify the gaps, and work on the right areas.
One result does not decide your future.

Accounts paper generally comes lengthy so simple strategy first 1.5 hrs 3 best question should be done ✅ and 0.5 hrs MCQs. Almost 70% is done now you will feel relaxed 😌 and can cover rest 2 sums in last 1 hr.
Make sure 90-96 marks you attempt. Don't leave 20 marks blindly which you might have made this mistake before.
