این نهاد اعلام کرد نفتکش بر اثر این حمله دچار «آسیب سازهای» شده، اما هیچ تلفات جانی یا آلودگی زیستمحیطی گزارش نشده است.
این حادثه یک روز پس از حمله به دو نفتکش، یکی حامل نفت خام عربستان سعودی و دیگری حامل گاز طبیعی مایع قطر، رخ داده است.
خبرگزاری رویترز حمله به آن دو کشتی را تأیید کرده و وبسایت اکسیوس به نقل از دو مقام آمریکایی گزارش داده بود که سپاه پاسداران دستکم دو موشک به سوی آنها شلیک کرده است؛ ادعایی که جمهوری اسلامی تاکنون به آن واکنشی نشان نداده است.
سخنگوی وزارت خارجه قطر روز سهشنبه اعلام کرد هدف قرار دادن نفتکش قطری «الرکیات» در نزدیکی تنگه هرمز، حملهای غیرقابل قبول به امنیت کشتیرانی بینالمللی و تأمین جهانی انرژی است و ایران را مسئول حمله به آن دانست.
هنوز هیچ گروه یا کشوری مسئولیت حملات تازه به نفتکشها در تنگه هرمز را بر عهده نگرفته است.

به گفته این سازمان، این حادثه باعث آتشسوزی در نفتکش شد، اما تاکنون هیچ تلفات جانی یا آلودگی زیستمحیطی گزارش نشده است.
سازمان عملیات تجارت دریایی بریتانیا (UKMTO) اعلام کرد مقامهای مسئول در حال بررسی این حادثه هستند و به همه شناورها توصیه کرد هنگام عبور از این منطقه با احتیاط تردد کرده و هرگونه فعالیت مشکوک را به این سازمان گزارش دهند.
