DON’T BE DECEIVED Don’t think this doesn’t apply to you, if this is the people who ascribe to knowledge, then what about you & I? Always repent for your sins and ask Allah for ‘Afiyah. Never become deceived by your knowledge, worship or the fact that you only sin in private! May Allah protect us. آمين يا رب العالمين

We are not machines. Zoom out and give yourself credit for how far you’ve come!

Imām Ibn al-Jawzī رحمه الله said: "Practice isolation for it is the basis of all good, and beware of bad companionship, and let the books and reading about the lives of the salaf be your companions." [لفتة الكبد إلى نصيحة الولد • صـ ٥٨]

إذا ما قال لي ربي أما استحييت تعصيني If my Lord asks me, “Have you no shame in disobeying me? وتخفي الذنب عن خلقي وبالعصيان تأتيني You conceal your sins from My creation and you come with sins to Me.” فكيف أجيبُ يا ويحي ومن ذا سوف يحميني؟ So how will I answer? O woe to me and who shall protect me? أسلي النفس بالآمال من حين الى حينِ I keep averting my soul with thoughts of hope from time to time. وأنسى ما وراء الموت ماذا بعد تكفيني And I forget what is to come after death and what is to come after I am shrouded. كأني قد ضمنتُ العيش ليس الموت يأتيني As if I am guaranteed life (eternally) and that death will not come to me. وجاءت سكرة الموت الشديدة من سيحميني And when the severe throes of death overtakes me, who will protect me? نظرتُ إلى الوُجوهِ أليـس منهم من سيفدينـــي I looked at the faces, is there not from amongst them who will ransom me? سأسأل ما الذي قدمت في دنياي ينجيني I will be asked regarding what I have prepared in my life to save me (on the Day of Judgement). فكيف إجابتي من بعد ما فرطت في ديني Then how will I answer after I have neglected my religion. ويا ويحي ألــــم أسمع كلام الله يدعوني Woe to me! Did I not hear the Speech of Allāh inviting me? ألــــم أسمع لما قد جاء في قاف ويسِ Did I not hear what came in (the chapters of) Qāf and Yāsīn? ألـــم أسمع بيوم الحشر يوم الجمع و الدينِ Did I not hear about the Day of Gathering, the Day of Assemble and the Day of Judgement? ألـــم أسمع مُنادي الموت يدعوني يناديني Did I not hear the crier of death inviting me, calling me? فيا ربــــاه عبد تــائب من ذا سيأويني So O my Lord, a slave (turning to You) I have repented. So who then shall shelter me? سوى رب غفور واسع للحقِ يهديني Except a Lord extensive in forgiveness, to the truth He will guide me. أتيتُ إليكَ فارحمني وثقــّـل في موازيني I have come to You (in repentance) – so have mercy on me, and make heavy my scales (with good deeds). وخفف في جزائي أنتَ أرجـى من يجازيني And lighten my account. You are the best of who will bring me to account. May Allāh ﷻ forgive us and grant us ability to remain obedient to Him. Āmīn. [@nujuminstitute]

Sometimes, it is good to be in situations that threaten our comfort. Feeling some fear, discomfort or anxiety? This may just be an indication that you are moving out of your comfort zone, and in the direction of your true purpose.

Here's a reminder to never compare your looks, your life and your losses & wins with those of others. Everyone walks a different & unique path in life, therefore your only competition should always be yourself. The goal is to be a better version of you, than you were yesterday.

FALLING OFF THE DEEN A Du'ā' to read when you find yourself moving backwards and falling away from Deen: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الحَورِ بَعدَ الكَورِ Next you should reflect as to why it is, that you’re no longer where you were previously. May Allah ﷻ save us from this, rescue those of us already in this and grant us steadfastness. آمين يا رب [beardedfella_]

Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr al-Maliki رحمه الله said: “It is not befitting for the intelligent believer to belittle any act of good, for it may be that the most “insignificant” one is the reason his sins are forgiven.”

Ibn Hazm رحمه الله said: “You should also remember that you may be deceived by knowledge, for if you do not put into practice what you know your knowledge will be a testimony against you and it would have been better for you if you had never been a scholar. For you should remember that an ignorant man is wiser than you, he is in a better position, he is more excusable. May your pride then completely disappear.” ‎[الأخلاق والسير]
