Saartha and Mandra: Full-Course Meals on History and Music   This episode introduces Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa's maiden historical classic, "Saartha" (Caravan) and his literary musical concert, "Mandra" (the Lowest Pitch).   These are works every book-lover and literature aficionado must have in his shelf.   Saartha IS DR. S.L. Bhyrappa's first historical novel set in eighth century India, on the eve of the so-called Arab invasion of Sindh.   Mandra is a modern classic and a unique feat in world literature. It is music sung through the medium of text. -- Read the whole piece! 📑🛕🪔🎵 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/saartha-and-mandra-full-course-meals-on-history-and-music

Parva and Daatu: Classics from a Master Litterateur   The second episode of the series introducing the major literary works of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa features Parva and Daatu. These are deservedly acclaimed literary classics written by an author at the peak of his powers.   WIDELY ACCLAIMED as Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s magnum opus, Parva is a true modern classic based on Maharshi Veda Vyasa’s immortal Mahabharata. This is also considered to be the author’s greatest work.    Published in 1975, Daatu (The Crossing) is another landmark classic of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa. It is a powerful, intricate and emotional examination of one of the pillars of the Indian society, the Varna System (incorrectly translated as caste system). Daatu won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award in 1975 and has been translated into all 14 Indian languages and English. 📑🙏🛕🪔😃   https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/parva-and-daatu-classics-from-a-master-litterateur

A Brief Survey of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s Major Novels This is the first episode of a new series introducing the acclaimed novels of India's national literary giant, Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa. Today, Dr. Bhyrappa is well past a youthful vintage of 90. He retains his zest for life and continues to pursue his abiding passion for travel and serious study. This is as good a time as any to introduce the major novels that catapulted him to literary eminence. It is one thing to celebrate his distinction but an informed celebration yields greater value. In this episode, we introduce his greatest bestseller, Aavarana and the deeply philosophical work, Saakshi Happy reading! 😄📑🛕🪔🕉 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/a-brief-survey-of-dr-sl-bhyrappas-major-novels

How Idly Conquered the Globe   IDLY TRUMPS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY as the greatest success story of globalisation. It is an unparalleled culinary conquest that occurred silently and went unnoticed even as it was occurring. Today, there is no continent where you don’t find idly.    I rank idly as one of the greatest weapons in the arsenal of our soft power.     But did you know the Vedic origins of the Idly?   Did you know that Idly takes its name from the utensil in which it is cooked? -- Read the whole delightful essay to know the answers to these questions! 😃📑😄🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/how-idly-conquered-the-globe

“I Wear only the Skin that Parameshwara has Given me!” Celebrating a Spotless Devotee of Shiva   The iconic D.V. Gundappa brings alive a highly evocative, moving and ennobling profile of a spotless Bhakta of Shiva eponymously named "Shiva Pooje" Naranappa.   An excerpt follows.   A particular incident occurred when I visited their home in Sarjapura. Naranappa was delighted that his younger sister and her children had visited him. He liked spending time with them. But then, who would carry the postal mail? He assigned the task to his son who was both competent and highly energetic. He happily agreed. However, he had no clothes apart from the Dhoti he was wearing. As he prepared to leave home, Naranappa took off his own Dhoti and gave it to him. The son asked in Telugu: “what will you wear?” The father: “The skin that Parameshwara has given me.” --- Do read and share this profound story. Especially, narrate it to your children. 🙏🕉🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/i-wear-only-the-skin-that-parameshwara-has-given-me-celebrating-a-spotless-devotee-of-shiva

Hindus must Pay Heed Lest Bharatavarsha Becomes another East Timor   The Sanatana civilisation has been encircled and its core has been hollowed out in an unprecedented manner especially after India attained Independence in 1947.    Two examples from recent history serve to illustrate the fatal consequences of not erecting unbreachable safeguards against external mischief.  Philippines, which for all practical purposes is still an American colony. It is not coincidental that its Magsaysay Award has been behind much of the sustained actions to disrupt India using Indians.   East Timor, a former “pagan” nation, was systematically infiltrated by Christian missionaries, leading to a full blown civil war. Christianity gained a new country for itself. In the 20th century.   Both countries have now become mere Christian outposts of powerful nations of the West. Do we want Sanatana Bharatavarsha to undergo a similar fate? ✝️🙏🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/commentary/hindus-must-pay-heed-lest-bharatavarsha-becomes-another-east-timor

Manthara and Richard III: The Contrast Between the Sanatana and the Mleccha Mind   There is no concept of an “ultimate evil” in the Sanatana philosophical ethos. Both good and evil are two sides of the same coin. A brilliant Upanishadic aphorism illustrates this philosophy: yenaiva sasṛje ghoraṃ tenaiva śāntirastu naḥ — that which has created the terrrible has also created the auspicious. This stands in sharp contrast to the Mleccha tradition which continues to be obsessed with “the problem of evil.”  This contrast is also why the Indian literary tradition has not produced any tragedies whereas the Western canon is replete with them. 🕉🙏🛕🪔 --- Read the concluding episode of this series! https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/manthara-and-richard-iii-the-contrast-between-the-sanatana-and-the-mleccha-mind
