There’s quite a bit of discourse on the quality of food in America leading to obesity. And all that is true.
However, it’s often depicted as a juxtaposition with a photograph from the 80s and 90s which shows a crowd of skinny beach bods in retro bikinis (based).
But, what isn’t pointed out is how widespread the use of amphetamine “diet pills” were.
You couldn’t drive down the road or turn on your TV without seeing an advertisement for them. There were even little meth candies marketed to housewives.
All of which was mostly taken off the market around 2001.
Yes, our food quality got worse. But all of society was also casually abusing over-the-counter Adderall.
Ask your parents about “black beauties”.
