MUNRUTHEL - "Where Dreams Lead" 12"LP
Last album's vinyl edition, after several problems and delays, will be officially released in few days finally.
Album returning to the roots of this cult artist was released on CD last year, now available also as black and galaxy blue vinyls, out 30-09.
Many other vinyl productions coming this autumn as well.

The debut EP from this Ukrainian outfit is reminiscent of early Abigor in the way it roots a romanticist aspiration in the adventurism of medievally derived melodic lines. But it manages to contain this within an expression of metal at once strikingly energetic and conflicted. There is a frantic push and pull across these tracks, as the rhythmic momentum continually yanks the emotive currents in antagonistic directions. Despite this, a clear poetic character emerges from the combat, achieving an emotional catharsis that feels earned.
The production embodies a clunky, 90s sheen, as every element is dialled up with a degree of intensity that today’s DAW users tend to discipline themselves away from. The resulting battle for dominance over the mix between the threnodic guitar lines, warlike drums, and emergent synth lines gives rise to what feels like a living, breathing organicism over and above the sheer energy behind the compositions themselves. The result is an unstable entity, but one that draws a refreshing authenticity from this central, beating heart. The emergent experience envelopes the listener in its cinematic weight whilst retaining a rawness and genuine vitality that reaches back to black metal’s roots in the often lawless ethos of underground guitar music. The half clean bark of the vocals solidifies the rampant histrionics characterising this release. But again, it’s an emotivism that feels justified in the fraught circumstances they are placed within.
Vintregral’s is a highly riff centric form of black metal. The music is defined by the connecting threads of the dual guitar lines as they weave between primitivist bursts of speed and bright, flowing melodic lines, all undergirded by proactive, borderline combative drums. But the musical language expressed across ‘Towards the Last Dawn’ also transcends the immediacy of place. It situates the vocalist/narrator within a wider context of events and locations beyond their immediate purview. It does this by marrying a lyrical tendency with the epic soundscaping of an atmospheric tendency, through open tremolo passages and the subtle depth provided by the keyboard lines, all resulting in a totalising experience. A fully fleshed out world that is simultaneously populated with activity, conflict, strife, and resolution.
Such a completist expression is hard to find in the current black metal climate. It is one that both suggests a fully realised landscape and manages to activate it with narrative and emotive stakes. The experience is made all the more satisfying given that Vintregal achieve this within a mere half an hour runtime. A triumph of compositional efficiency as much as sheet creative will.

Ось така партія журналів поповнила чергу для MetalScans.

Нещодавно через форму на сайті надіслали ще два видання від DIYclab. А саме - FontarGoth - 12 номерів за 2010 рік про gothic / dark-сцену: від post-punk і darkwave до doom metal та industrial. EmoOi! - 5 номерів за 2009-й про панк, Oi!, hardcore, футбольну субкультуру й локальні рок-сцени.
І це лише три журнали з одного проєкту. Постійно знаходиться щось зовсім неочікуване.
По суті, з таких окремих внесків поступово складається централізована бібліотека української музичної преси й самвидаву, яка вже стала по-своєму унікальною. І це дуже радує.

Свого часу я приєднався до UA Black Metal просто як слухач.
Перше, що мене зачепило, - це скільки музики адмін зібрав у каналі й скільки часу витратив, щоб усе це знайти, залити та структурувати. Багато українського блеку немає на стрімінгах. Частина релізів виходила обмеженими тиражами на касетах чи вінілі, а деякі з них уже просто ніде послухати або завантажити.
Але в Telegram важко побачити весь масштаб цього каталогу. Є пошук за текстом, але немає нормального фільтрування, сортування та групування. Ти бачиш окремі дописи, а не всю зібрану музику.
Тому нещодавно виникла ідея зробити для каналу окремий сайт-каталог.

Він автоматично синкається з Telegram. На сайті можна переглянути всі гурти й релізи, скористатися пошуком і фільтрами, а потім перейти до потрібного допису. Після реєстрації релізи можна додавати в обране.
Сам сайт не замінює канал і не зберігає музику. Він просто дає можливість побачити весь каталог і нормально в ньому орієнтуватися.

🇺🇦 ВІСЬ - Туск (2026)
Новий альбом ковельського проєкту. По звуку вийшло сиро, дещо більш атмосферно, хоч і не так пружно і динамічно у порівнянні до першого альбому від цього року. Ударні тут доволі голосно стоять в міксі, їх багато і добре чути, що при доволі простих партіях звучить так собі. А от гітару хотілось би чути краще. Дарма вона так втоплено звучить. Цікаво чи автор музики й цього разу записувався на касетну портастудію.
Звучить дуже відверто та емоційно. Музика яка у мене викликала асоціації з поривами ураганного вітру під час сутінок. Ще не шторм, але вже дуже не спокійно.

Журнал мережі JAM виходив із 2012 року до літа 2020-го. Усього вийшло 18 номерів. Свого часу видавець сам виклав їхні онлайн-версії на Issuu.
На сайті jam.ua посилання залишилося й досі, але акаунт на Issuu вже видалений. Тобто формально журнали колись були в інтернеті, але відкрити чи завантажити їх звичайним способом уже неможливо.
Перші сім номерів вдалося знайти у вигляді оригінальних PDF-файлів. Це не скани, а друкарські версії з текстовим шаром: текст можна виділяти, копіювати та шукати. Разом - 584 сторінки та 474 МБ.
Другий номер був збережений розворотами, тому його довелося розділити на окремі сторінки. У результаті вийшло 88 нормальних сторінок.
З номерами від 8-го до 17-го допоміг Internet Archive. Колись він зберіг копії сторінок із рідера Issuu, завдяки чому всі десять випусків вдалося відновити повністю. Це ще 892 сторінки, і жодної пропущеної.
Якість цих номерів трохи гірша: вони збережені як зображення у 128 dpi та не мають текстового шару. Тому їх ще потрібно пропустити через OCR. Але головне, що всі сторінки збереглися.
Не знайшовся лише 18-й номер. Його немає ні серед доступних матеріалів на сайті, ні в Issuu, ні в Internet Archive. Якщо в когось є паперовий примірник - напишіть.
Ось так із 18 номерів вдалося повернути 17. Усі вони вже зшиті, перейменовані й підготовлені. Разом - 703 МБ.

Всіма правдами й неправдами вдалося знайти скан першого номера журналу Sacratum. Він вийшов у 2006 році, тобто цього року журналу вже виповнилося 20 років.
Sacratum був зробленим на дуже хорошому рівні як у плані дизайну, так і наповнення та по суті, з’явився в потрібний час і в потрібному місці. Тоді до Києва почали активно приїжджати Lacrimosa, Within Temptation, Umbra Et Imago, Diary of Dreams та інші відомі гурти. Журнал рекламував ці концерти, брав інтерв’ю в музикантів і писав не лише про gothic rock та metal, а й про архітектуру, історію, кіно та інші суміжні речі.
Один продавець, у якого я купував журнали, розповідав, що навіть через 20 років люди продовжують питати про Sacratum. Він і сам не до кінця розуміє таку популярність, але, думаю, це вже своєрідний культурний феномен.
Невдовзі на MetalScans буде поповнення. Крім першого номера, нещодавно вдалося придбати ще такі випуски:

Усе це буде відскановано й додано на сайт.

"Silent Torment" is the burden we carry within ourselves. Through fear, grief, isolation, anger and despair, the album explores the fragile boundary between reality and the inner world that slowly unfolds within the mind.
Each song captures a different part of the journey where memories linger like distant echoes, silence grows oppressive and every step forward is shadowed by what cannot be left behind. Recurring images of ruined cities, fire and ash are not bound to a single place or moment in time. Instead, they become reflections of inner states - symbols of loss, uncertainty and the struggle to preserve one's identity as everything familiar begins to crumble.
Rather than telling a linear story, the album unfolds as a series of emotional chapters. Moments of chaos give way to introspection, fear transforms into isolation, nightmares blur the line between memory and reality. Throughout the journey listener is invited not to witness events from a distance, but to experience the emotional weight left behind. This is the album about the invisible scars, conversations with ourselves in the quietest moments and the search for meaning in spaces where darkness and light coexist.
Silent Torment is deeply rooted in the experience of modern Ukraine. The album was shaped by a reality that began on 24 February 2022 when millions of lives were irrevocably changed. It is not a chronicle of war, but a reflection on what war leaves behind: invisible scars, fractured memories and silent burdens that remain long after the battles have ended. Above all, it is an expression of gratitude to everyone who defend Ukraine and its freedom.
