✏️Classwork with Standard IELTS. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒In many countries, the number of divorces has been rising steadily in recent years. What do you think are the main causes of this trend? What measures could be taken to reduce the number of divorces? It is becoming more and more common for marriages to fail in many parts of the world. While there are two main causes of this problem, both have effective solutions. To begin with the causes, the first is the unrealistic expectations of newly married couples, driven by social media, films, and books in which everything is romanticized and exaggerated. Neither partner gets what they believe they deserve. Frustrated, they emotionally give up on each other and start seeking someone who can meet their high demands. Little do they know that their problems originate from themselves rather than from their spouse. The second cause is the social acceptance of divorce. In the past, people looked down on those who divorced, whereas today society is very tolerant towards them. This, in turn, encourages divorces, because nobody is afraid of being judged. Turning to the solutions, there are also two. Firstly, I would recommend the services of marriage consultants. Before starting a family, people should go through a mandatory assessment of their expectations of family life. The professionals would have to ask uncomfortable questions and determine whether the partners suit each other, and only after their approval should the green light be given. Otherwise, inexperienced people under the influence of oxytocin may be unable to view the situation objectively. Secondly, a “marriage police” should be established. At present, at least in my country, those who want to break family ties are given six months to reconsider their decision. However, it would be better if, during this period, specially trained people visited the couple, offered emotional support, and helped resolve the issues between the spouses. Without such assistance, I am afraid the couple may be too proud to tackle their problems on their own. In conclusion, while high expectations and the shifted attitude of society are leading to this issue, both can be effectively addressed with the aforementioned solutions. @toplanguagecentre
