As I said we are a shambles of a country. Not only could we be energy independent but also food independent for most things. Instead our farmers are being slowly squeezed into bankruptcy while we incredibly import the likes of onions & carrots from Israel. There’s also no reason large corporations shouldn’t be forced to make clothing, footwear, electronics & so on locally which would create jobs while greatly reducing their precious CO2 transport emissions because it’s all shipped from Asia. You want our people to buy your products? Then you’re going to produce them here. If we had a nationalist government that cared about our people we could be living in an amazing country. Instead it’s turning into a nightmare on every level.

Ireland has the potential to become the “Norway of the Atlantic.” We could have been energy-independent, lowering your heating bills and fuel costs while generating a national sovereign wealth fund to pay for housing and healthcare—funded by our own natural resources. They have chained Ireland to expensive, unstable, foreign-imported fuel. So when a crisis hits — whether in the Strait of Hormuz or any other global chokepoint — Irish families have nowhere else to turn but back to the State for “permission,” “priority access,” and emergency energy credits.. They made Ireland dependent, then called the dependency “resilience”.
