Repost from Ethics Case Study and Example - UPSC
Learning from E Sreedharan
1) Punctuality: He used to set up reverse clocks/timers to show impending deadlines for team members.
2) Innovation: Chhatarpur Delhi metro station did not get land even till 7 months before the deadline. However, a station usually takes 2.5 years to get completed. They prefabricated the entire station in steel. It took only 3 months after land was acquired.
3) Leadership: He took moral responsibility and offered to resign after Laxmi Nagar Metro collapse. It inspired confidence in colleagues.
4) Credibility: He generated credibility in contractors by acting fairly. When the capital market was down due to the Harshad Mehta scam, for many of the projects, contractors worked without payment as they trusted E Sreedharan

Tips to Retain What You ReadOne of the biggest challenge I use to face was retaining things just after coming from an engineering background with an extremely strong inclination towards Physics and Maths. However I pondered upon it and followed small small things which made a big change in my retention power ,so as to that History became my highest scoring and Favorite subject ( Collective wrong answer in 5 Prelims - just 6 questions) Follow these- 1. Read Slowly: Take your time with the material. Avoid using highlighters on your first read as they disrupt your flow. Save them for the second round. 2. Consistent Sources: Stick to the same source for each subject. This consistency helps your mind hold onto the information better—it's a scientifically backed approach. 3. Daily Reflection: Before you drift off to sleep, close your eyes and spend 10 minutes reflecting on what you learned that day. It helps cement the knowledge in your mind. 4. Delayed Testing: Test yourself, but not immediately after finishing a subject. Wait 3-4 days. This way, you challenge your retention and deepen your understanding. 5. Regular Revision: Make it a habit to revisit what you've studied every 21-28 days. Regular revision is key to long-term retention. 6. No Multitasking: Turn off your mobile while studying. Focus solely on your studies; multitasking can dilute your concentration.

Take Printout and Make Notes!!
Hi all, regardless of your city, if your library or class is in the basement, please take your books and important notes to your room. Many basement libraries are being closed in various places like Bhopal, Prayagraj, and Jaipur etc. It would be better to take only the books you are currently studying to the library.
