Decoding science and technology syllabus in KAS and how to prepare for it? It has a vast syllabus. It comprises of two parts: S&T and Environment S&T We have to divide s&t into numerous subsections 1. Every day science, human body, food and nutrition- Its a basic topic for kerala psc degree level exams. You can get many previous year questions based on it. It's a favourite topic for psc. You can use a rank file for covering this section. Also can refer ncerts specific chapters. Do not cover the entire science portion in rank file. Stick to the topic 2. National policy on S&T, institutions promoting it - simply Google and learn about the national policy. Also refer to year end report of dept of s&t for current affairs. Research institutes is a common topic in psc. Learn pyq about it. Also study about csir, Barc & similar institutions 3.Indian scientists- Particularly learn about Nobel prize winners and their contribution and books. Also other famous scientists like ramanujan, hargovind khurana etc. Dont forget to study about ancient & medieval period scientist and their works 4.IT- it's a psc topic. Study it from a rankfile and also ncert books with special focus on cyber crimes, govt digital programmes etc 5. ISRO & similar institutions- mostly current affairs specific topic. Study recent missions, historic missions and evolving period of isro. Also make a short note on drdo and nuclear policy of india 6.Energy sources - study about major renewable and non renewable energy sources and such fields,plants in India.u can refer rankfile for the above part. Also geography class 10 text book. Then know about govt policies for energy security, targets, global rankings related to it. You can use report of MNRE for this section Environment 7. Govt laws, policies, etc- study a little detail about various acts passed by govt, also the policies. For psc u just need to remember the year but for kas know little more about it 8.climate change policies, protocols, treaties, Environment organisations, different conventions etc- Its a hot topic for upsc, same we can expect here. Refer pyq from upsc about it. Refer current affairs too about the places where such meetings recently held and the decisions taken there. Also study some basics about global warming, carbon emission from ncerts 9. National parks, wildlife sanctuaries, tiger reserves etc- No psc or upsc question paper ever came without a question from this topic. Study about the state where it located, special animals protecting there, any river flowing through it or any physical features. Refer both psc & upsc pyq 10. Western ghats- Study its basic features, special biodiversity, shola forest, different committies studying about its conservation, national parks situating there etc 11.Biotechnology, nanotechnology and green technology- study biotechnology basics from class 12 biology ncert.
