Ten Hag: “So far so good, but season now starts! We are in the right position, but everything we work for we get rewarded for it.” [Sky Sports]

Ten Hag on #mufc international performances: “I think they play brilliant: England beating Italy, beating Ukraine, Scott McTominay beating Spain, scoring four times, and things like that. The lads came back with with a lot of energy, with a lot of spirit.” [Sky Sports]

Ten Hag: “I I think it's [international break] necessary for us. It's a breather for us to analyse the last couple of of months in this case.” [Sky Sports]

Ten Hag on improving the attacking decisions of #mufc players: “We pointed it all to them. We set the targets again and showed where we have to improve our game.” [Sky Sports]

Ten Hag: “The season actually starts now, and we have to be ready for that start and we are in the right position but we have to take this great opportunity to restart very well and then improve our game, and win big games.” [MU]

Ten Hag: “To construct a culture you have to win every game and I think that is the approach we have in every game, so we will prepare every game 100 per cent, we don't want to miss things in any game.”

Ten Hag asked if Wout Weghorst could be part of his long-term plans: “Of course. I think he is doing a lot of elements of football really well.”

Ten Hag: “We are setting higher demands and standards for our players every time and for the rest in the summer we will see. Just now, that's not our focus point. Just now, it's about a better way of playing so we have a better chance of winning games.”

Ten Hag: “From my analysis, we are going in the right direction. I think we are building a base this season but we have to progress. You can do that by developing the team.”

Ten Hag: “When I was at Ajax we had a low budget in comparison to many clubs in the #UCL and still we won the groups, got to the semi-final and were close to the final. So it is possible to beat teams with higher budgets.”

Ten Hag: “Money is one thing, but another thing is strategy.”

Ten Hag: “Casemiro is a very good example [of attracting big players]. He has won everything, including the #UCL, but he was willing to come to #mufc. Even when we are playing in the Europa League, this club attracts big people.”

Ten Hag: “Let’s make clear one thing – we have to play in the #UCL. We’re #mufc and have to be in it. There can be no misunderstanding. But even when we’re not, we are still attractive for the top players.”

Ten Hag: “I think after Christmas we have played 25 games and we lost two - and Weghorst played almost all of the games so he is really part of the success.”

Ten Hag: “He [Weghorst] is making good movements, making space for others, so he's also good in set-plays. He is really contributing to this team.”

Ten Hag: “Wout [Weghorst] is doing a really good job for us. He is the leader of the process in pressing, he starts the press and is very good in backward pressing. He is also taking up [good] positions and in his link-up play he's doing really well.”

Erik ten Hag on Newcastle: “We know they delay. It's something that the refereeing doesn't want, They've had a great season with their manager, way of play. It's a team that is really hard to beat. We’re looking forward to the challenge & the evidence is we can beat them." #MUFC

Erik ten Hag: “"What I said previously, I work in the back on next season but we're working now on this season, so first of all make sure everyone is available and keep improving the way of play and that's the best chance of scoring more goals." #MUFC

Erik ten Hag on if he needs more scorers: “I think we have players like Bruno, like Jadon Sancho, like Anthony Martial, like Scott McTominay, like Antony dos Santos, we have enough players with the capabilities to score goals, definitely.” #MUFC

Erik ten Hag: “When Wout Weghorst is in the team the team is performing better." #MUFC
