🇮🇳 CHAMPARAN SATYAGRAHA: 108 YEARS OF PEOPLE’S POWER 🧑‍🌾✊ Launched in April 1917, Champaran Satyagraha was Mahatma Gandhi’s first civil disobedience movement in India — a turning point in our freedom struggle. 🌾 What was the fight? Indigo farmers in Champaran (Bihar) were forced under the “Tinkathia System” to grow indigo on a portion of their land for European planters. They faced exploitation, begar (forced labour), and high rents — until Gandhi stepped in on invitation by Rajkumar Shukla. 🛕 Gandhi arrived in Champaran on 10 April 1917, met villagers, defied British orders to leave, and used Satyagraha to mobilize masses. Supported by Rajendra Prasad, Brajkishore Prasad, and others, he documented over 8,000 farmer grievances. ✅ Victory for People! The British formed the Champaran Enquiry Committee → led to the abolition of the Tinkathia system and historic agrarian reforms in 1918. 🕊️ A legacy of truth, courage, and resistance that sparked a nationwide awakening.
