You’ll get to experience the challenges of planning our city through interactive case scenarios, engage in candid conversations with planning professionals, and learn more about how various job roles in URA contribute to shaping our future Singapore. Hello Geographers! NUS Student Accessibility Unit is currently collaborating with Singapore Land Authority (SLA) on a project and are looking for volunteers to part of it! Specifically, SLA and NUS are looking to map out wheelchair BFA accessibility routes within NUS, and to eventually have them made available to facilitate point to point wayfinding on the national ONEmap. They are looking to recruit 10 interested students who can commit to be ground surveyors for this BFA project collaboration between NUS and SLA. Please take a look at the attached image for some detailed information on the nature of the project! For interest, here’s an article link and video snippet of SLA’s pilot BFA implementation on the ONEmap. If interested, please click here and sign up! The deadline is 12th Dec. Hello! Do you wish to play a part in igniting our younger generation's passion and interest in Geography? Working with the Geography Challenge's Organizing Committee (O'Comm) is a good opportunity to!  The Geography Challenge (GC) is an annual competition targeted for secondary school students. It aims to Engage, Empower, and Educate students on world issues and highlight the omnipresence of Geography in our everyday lives. This is done through our focus on experiential programmes to pique students' interest in Geography through hands-on experiences. We are currently looking for passionate individuals to join us as Vice Project Directors (VPDs) for the 2024 Geography Challenge! Look no further and quickly seize this opportunity to make a lasting impact on our Geography Community through this project! These are the possible roles you can take in the O'Comm: 1) Finance & Procurement Director Responsible in managing the finances, procurement-related matters (engaging with sponsors) and logistics for the Geography Challenge throughout the whole year. He/she will also be the acting GC Project Director (GC PD) in his absence, and assist the other VPDs in their work if necessary. 2) Vice Project Director (Admin) Responsible for meeting minutes, circulars and proposals. Will also anchor registration, recruitment, booking matters and certificate dissemination for the Geography Challenge. 3) Vice Project Director (Programmes) Responsible for vetting of components proposals, people management & work allocation (affiliates and ICs). Will also be involved in Event & Site Recees. 4) Vice Project Director (Publicity) Responsible for all GC Publicity Materials on our Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WordPress Channels. Will also play a key role in designing circulars and promotional material, and assist in any duties of the VPD (Admin) if necessary. The commitment period for this project will be from Sept 2023 - Aug 2024, do note this when applying for a role! This will be a challenging, yet rewarding experience that you can look back and be proud of being a part of it! All VPDs will have the opportunity to plan and dictate the direction of the various components in the GC. Signups for the 2024 World Wildlife Day Regional Youth Symposium Organising Committee are now open!!! This year, we hosted youths from around the region in a three-day event dedicated to building a regional conservation network and fostering international collaboration in conservation efforts. Next year, the event returns again, even bigger and better than before - and we need your help to make it happen! In total, there will be 8 subcommittees: Co-lead, Main Symposium, Communications, Design & Marketing, Youth Showcase, Workshops, Logistics, Relations.
